PRESS STATEMENT by DATIN PADUKA CHEW MEI FUN IN RESIGNATION AS EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF PEMPENA SDN BHD
Thanks to Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Azalina Dato’ Othman Said for her confidence in me over the last eight months in regards to my appointment as the Executive Director of Pempena on 2nd May 2008 & subsequently as the Executive Chairman with effect from 1st Oct 2008.
From the beginning of my appointment as Executive Director, I have discovered that the company needs a thorough restructuring and revamp. With the support and assistance from YBM, the Board Members and also the senior management of Pempena, the new Management have devoted our time on restructuring and recovery.
To ensure transparency, we have appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers Capital Sdn Bhd (PwC) to undertake a business review of Pempena. While the first phase of organization restructuring on Pempena were undertaken, the new Management has undertaken internal review including having series of sessions with each partner in the investee companies.
Based on the PwC business review report and internal review on all the companies, we have made recommendations to the Board of Pempena, and the Board at its meeting on 24 November 2008 decided that Pempena is to retain and enhance its investment in 14 investee companies and to exit from the rest of 10. No new investment shall be made until Pempena is stabilized.
Meanwhile, the Management has also undertaken various cost reduction measures including tightening up the management of procurement process, organization restructuring as approved by the Board including staff reassignment to ensure that the staff employed are productive and that there shall be no replacement upon leaving.
Pempena has also reported to the relevant authorities where there is strong suspicion of wrongdoings. With all the above-mentioned steps taken, the first phase of organization restructuring and revamp has been completed.
During my stewardship in Pempena for the last 8 months, despite facing unfair allegations and various negative publicity, with the support of the company's management, I had patiently strive to resolve problems and find solutions for the company, including making recommendation to the Board and YBM for Pempena way forward.
I deeply understand that the company, in facing future challenges, besides requiring support of resources, also requires a leader that can dedicate his time on this long recovery and consolidation process. Reorganization and the tasks in restructuring current investments, revamping a new corporate culture, rebuilding and re-branding Pempena and ensuring the 70% two years old investee companies generate the projected financial returns are not something that can be achieved and accomplished in a short period.
With my appointment as MCA Wanita Chief since two months ago, I discovered that both MCA Wanita and Pempena require my dedicated time on one hand in organization restructuring and another hand required my devoted time in transforming and rebuilding the party.
Since I have completed the first phase of organization restructuring, before moving into a longer period of second phase of organization revamping, I felt it is time for me to resign from Pempena as Executive Chairman in order to make way for the Management of Tourism Malaysia, the holding company of Pempena to move the company forward.
With much regret, I hereby announce my resignation as the Executive Chairman and Board Member of the company effective from 31st December 2008.
Lastly, I would like to thank YB Dato’ Sri Azalina Dato Othman Said, the Board and the staff of Pempena in giving the support and assistance to me. I hope the company will move forward as soon as possible, and will again excel as the pioneer and catalyst to Tourism industry.

周美芬辞马来西亚旅游发展机构执行主席职文告
感谢旅游部长拿督斯里阿查丽娜的信任于2008年5月2日委任本人担任马来西亚旅游发展机构（PEMPENA SDN BHD）执行董事，并于2008年10月1日在获得部长与董事部的信任下擢升为执行主席至今。
本人打从加入这间公司不久后，就发现公司面对了严重的财务问题，在董事和公司数名高级职员的协助下，我们每一天都为了如何整顿公司而费尽心思。
为了透明化处理与清楚掌握公司投资所面对的问题，我们一方面委任了信誉卓著的独立稽查公司PricewaterhouseCoopers Capital Sdn Bhd (PwC) 进行了第一阶段的业务审查与检讨，另一方面也约见属下各公司合营伙伴了解与磋商，并展开了公司的内部检讨和第一阶段的重整工作。
根据PwC的报告和内部所展开的检讨，我们提出了维持与加强属下14间投资公司业务和通过适当方法终止其他属下投资公司，并停止任何新投资，直到公司业务稳定为止的建议。这项建议获得2008年11月24日董事部会议的通过与接纳。
为了开源节流，我们也展开了多项减少无必要花费的措施，包括严格监督确保公司的所有采购严遵既定的采购程序进行、在董事部的同意下进行了第一阶段的人力资源调整以提升员工工作效率、职员辞职后不进行增聘，甚至微如文具的使用等也进行严格的管制。
针对一些拥有明显迹象可能涉及滥权的公司，我们也已向反贪污局作出呈报。在采取了以上各项行动后，PEMPENA可说已完成了第一阶段的重振与改善步骤，并将踏入第二阶段的重振工作。
本人在参与执行与领导PEMPENA的过去8个月期间，在面对一些不公平指责的干扰下、在媒体负面报道对公司诚信造成打击的情况下，仍沉着气，在公司管理层的协助下竭尽所能，抽丝剥茧，想方设法为公司寻求出路，也为公司未来的走向向董事部与部长提出了建议。
本人深深了解公司未来所面对的挑战除了需要有足够的资源支持外，还需要有能够长时期专注于重振公司业务的掌舵者，因为整顿现有投资、重塑公司管理文化、重建商誉和确保超过70%投资历史约两年上下的公司为公司带来收益等工作都不是短时期可以达致的。然而本人自从于两个月前获选为马华全国妇女组主席后，发现要同时长时期集中精神带领PEMPENA的重振和领导马华妇女组转型出发，走出大选后的政治阴霾是难以兼顾的。
既然目前我已协助公司完成了第一阶段的重振与改善，在公司即将踏入第二阶段的长期重振工作之际，我认为也是我交棒的最好时刻，因此我决定辞去公司的执行主席职位，以便让路给100%拥有此公司的旅游发展局继续公司的重振工作。
本人的辞职于2008年12月31日正式生效。
感谢部长、董事们、职员们这期间给予本人的支持与协助，祝愿公司业务尽速回到正轨，落实为旅游业开发新市场与新领域的成立目标。

马华妇女组抨击回教党要在经济稳定就落实回教法
马华妇女组全国主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬抨击回教党野心勃勃，即经济稳定时就欲落实回教法，她同时促瓜登以及全国人民关注回教党主席哈迪阿旺意有所指“现今经济状况不会落实回教法”言论，以免被其言论所误导。
“虽然哈迪提及要施回教法的前提条件是国泰民安，但是回教党对建立回教国的终极目标从来就没有动摇，甚至在其党章中仍然可见其野心。对此，人民是应该关注的。”周美芬说道。
此外，她也质疑哈迪此次的软性言论实则是要为即将来临的瓜登补选争取选民支持；她说：
“回教党副主席胡山慕沙立场坚定表示回教法是针对全民的法律，而哈迪却意见相左指出回教法制是针对回教徒来执法；如此两极说法实在让人摸不着头脑！哈迪的言论转向难道就不是为了瓜登补选的选票吗？”
回教党在2004年大选时积极欲实施回教法的策略让回教党面临严重挫败，也促使回教党在308大选改变策略——淡化回教国立场，改以着重全民的福利国挂帅。周氏对回教党感到不解的是：
“既然回教党在大选中以福利国为竞选策略，就应该着重在减轻人民承重负担的政策上，为何却又重提回教法，甚至将无法实施回教法的原因归咎于全球经济放缓呢？”
较早前，回教党副主席胡山慕沙指出只要夺权成功，就将修改联邦宪法，以实施回教法的言论引起了非回教徒的恐慌。周美芬提醒民联，联邦宪法是我国用于全民的最高法典，修改宪法意味着回教法亦将适用于全国人民身上，这确是会为大马国民带来影响。
“身为民联实权领袖的安华是应该针对此事清楚表达其立场，这是很严重的议题，安华的立场呢？公正党的立场呢？”

Wanita MCA to Hadi Awang: Hudud laws unacceptable irrespective of economic situation
Responding to remarks by PAS President Dato’ Seri Hadi Awang that “the current economic situation could delay its implementation (of hudud laws),” Wanita MCA National Chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun urged Kuala Terengganu voters and Malaysians in general to look at the larger picture. Voicing alarm, Mei Fun highlighted PAS has never wavered from their long term plan to enforce hudud. “Although Hadi Awang claimed that ‘in order for hudud to be implemented, people must have proper education, jobs as well as economic mobility,’ make no mistake that the PAS’s theocratic state is still in their agenda once recession woes have been quelled.”
Mei Fun also queried whether Hadi Awang’s softening position was uttered to score political mileage in view of the Kuala Terengganu by-elections just 3 weeks away. “While PAS Vice Chairman Dato’ Husam Musa is adamant that hudud laws are meant for all Malaysians, Hadi Awang has taken a contradictory stand that hudud laws only apply to Muslims. Is Hadi Awang merely trying to win over voters who fear hudud laws?”
During the 2004 general elections, PAS insisted on imposing hudud laws which included amputating limbs, stoning and whipping for non-Muslims too. Realizing that such hardline practices were rejected by the non-Muslim community, PAS switched their model towards a welfare state which was seemingly gentler and all embracive for the general elections last March 8th. The flinching positions of PAS on hudud laws were then taken to task by the MCA Wanita chief. “Since PAS’ general elections campaign was based on a welfare state, shouldn’t they embark on policies to alleviate the burden of families of retrenched workers rather than blaming the global economic turmoil as a reason to delay executing hudud laws?”
Earlier Husam Musa ignited fears among the non-Muslim community when he reiterated PAS’ promise to amend the Federal Constitution and implement hudud and qisas once the Opposition seized federal office. Mei Fun reminded Pakatan Rakyat that the Federal Constitution is the supreme law of the land which applies to all Malaysians. “Changing the Federal Constitution to include hudud and qisas elements will inevitably affect the lives of all Malaysians who are bound by the Federal Constitution.”
Meanwhile, Mei Fun pressed PKR de facto leader, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim to state his position on the debate. “He is still so silent after so long. This is a very serious matter. What is PKR’s position?”

《睁着眼睛说瞎话》

日前，在回应卡巴星要求公正党顾问拿督斯里安华不应再保持沉默一事，公正党宣传主任蔡天强说，安华作为未来首相的人选，不可能小至街道清洁问题、禁酒等课题都要亲自回应。
他认为，身为公正党宣传主任，他所发表的言论便足以代表该党的立场。
蔡天强把实行回教刑事法这项关乎国家宪政，国家宗教政策，关乎人民利益的重大课题比喻为“街道清洁、禁酒课题”的说法让人诧异，让人瞠目结舌！可以想象那些曾经对他有极高期望，甚至在308大选时以仰慕的心情投他一票，希望他能协助国家，带动改变的人民此时此刻的心情，他们也许已在极大的震撼中从天上坠入谷底，感觉无比的失望！
我不知道这是因为他护主心切，还是他为了协助安华金蝉脱壳，以免他在这课题上顺得哥情失嫂意，但至少因为被誉为公正党实权领袖或民联未来首相人选的安华不表态，而说明了公正党或安华对这个课题没有立场或立场模糊或根本不屑一顾！加上蔡天强说他身为公正党宣传主任，所发表的言论足以代表该党的立场，证明了公正党认为回教刑事法的实行与否是一个有如街道清洁般微不足道的问题！
蔡天强的以上回应是他在告别2008年之前《睁着眼睛说瞎话》，送给大家的年度新春大礼！
无独有偶，雪州行政议员兼雪州回教党主席哈山阿里日前针对奥曼奥玛被委为雪州发展局总经理的事件发表谈话时说“我们注重的是素质、公信力、专业......回教党不曾说过华人与印度人不能出任。”
他解释说，刘秀梅的受委已在回教党党员的人民之间产生不安，而且该机构拥有两名服务超过30年的巫裔高级主管。
言下之意非常清楚，他带领大家针对邓小平的“黑猫白猫论”进行了逆向思考，因此得出了相反的结论：“在这事件上邓小平的理论不能成立，因为会不会抓老鼠不是PKNS总经理人选的首要条件！回教党党员感觉不安，而且该机构有两名服务超过30年的巫裔高级主管才是关键！”
除此我们也很疑惑，不知道由他领导，和另外两名雪州行政议员郭素沁与雅谷（Yaakob Sapari）组成的三人遴选小组在敲定人选时是如何确定奥曼奥玛比刘秀梅更有素质、公信力和专业.....因为他说，回教党不曾说过华人与印度人不能出任!
因此，结论是：“哈山阿里和蔡天强心有灵犀，因此一道在告别2008年之前以《睁着眼睛说瞎话》作为送给人民的新春大礼！”
还有，还有。。。
为什么遴选PKNS总经理的小组是由哈山阿里领导，而不是由比他高级的“高级行政议员”领导？这在很讲权位级别的政府体系来说不是很不寻常吗？

Wanita MCA National Chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun urges PKR de-facto leader Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim to state PKR and Pakatan Rakyat’s stand clearly following the remarks made by PAS Vice-Chairman Husam Musa that they will implement Hudud law if they successfully form the government.
“Husam Musa’s statement has resulted in anxiety among non-Muslims in the country. PAS firmly insisting on introducing Hudud laws has ignored the fact that Malaysia is a multi-racial and multi-religious country and also has ignored the spirit of Federal Constitution”, expresses Mei Fun.
Mei Fun reiterates that Anwar Ibrahim as the de-facto leader of PKR and leader of Pakatan Rakyat has a responsibility to explain to the people his stand over the Hudud laws. Moreover, DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng and its chairman Karpal Singh has already urged Anwar Ibrahim to response to the issue which clearly shows that Anwar’s stand is the final stand of Pakatan Rakyat.
“Unless Lim Guan Eng and Karpal Singh’s position in Pakatan Rakyat is not important enough, if not Anwar should respect the request of the two DAP leaders and response to Husam’s remark accordingly. If Anwar decided to keep quiet, there are only two possibilities, one; Anwar agrees with the remark made by Husam to implement Hudud laws or DAP has been marginalized in the Pakatan Rakyat with its Secretary-General and Chairman’s request been ignored,” she reiterates.
When replying to Karpal Singh’s statement, PKR Publicity Chief Tian Chua expressed that Anwar Ibrahim as the future Prime Minister of the country could not be expected to response to petty issues such as cleanliness on the streets and banning of alcohol.
“Tian Chua’s statement is ridiculous. Introducing Hudud laws is a major issue that will affect the country’s Constitution and the livelihood of the people but Tian Chua has treated the problem as a petty issue. This is a very immature remark from him. Even though Tian Chua wanted to rid Anwar from the responsibility, he should have come out with a more persuasive argument and not using this approach when handling the said issue”, Mei Fun argues.

周美芬促安华对回教刑事法表明立场

马华全国妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬促人民公正党顾问安华必须针对回教党副主席胡桑的回教法言论表态，以向全体人民清楚说明该党及民联对回教法的立场和原则。回教党副主席胡桑在日前的一场辩论中，信誓旦旦的承诺该党将在执掌中央政权后，全面推行回教刑事法，已经引起非回教徒的疑虑。
回教党执意要在马来西亚推行回教法，是一种完全漠视我国多元种族、多元宗教国情的狭隘态度，更是对我国联邦宪法的世俗精神的一种严重藐视。
安华作为在公正党中掌握最高权力的实权领袖，以及作为民联的最高领袖，如果不在回教党要推行回教法的课题上做出任何明确的交待或看法，是完全说不过去的。更何况，行动党秘书长林冠英以及主席卡巴星已经先后要求安华针对有关课题发言，显示安华的立场才是民联的最终立场。
除非林冠英和卡巴星在民联的地位可有可无，否则安华应该尊重两位同僚的意愿，立即对胡桑的言论表态。如果安华继续保持沉默，那就有两种可能：一、他默认胡桑的言论，即民联一旦执掌中央将推行回教法；二、行动党在所谓平起平坐的民联里被公正党及回教党边缘化，以致其秘书长和主席的要求都无法获得任何满足或回应。
此外，公正党宣传主任蔡添强回应卡巴星时表示“安华作为未来首相人选，不可能小至街道清洁问题、禁酒等课题都要回应”，是非常荒谬的说辞。
推行回教法是一项事关国体、宪政、社会形态以及人民切身生活的重大课题，蔡添强将有关问题比喻为“街道清洁问题”，简直是太儿戏了。蔡氏即使要为安华推脱责任，也应该提出更具说服力的理由，而不是以如此轻蔑的态度去敷衍其民联同僚和广大人民。

“马哈迪不能，我能！”

首相拿督斯里阿都拉昨天接受报章访问时说：“马哈迪不能，我能！”
“能”什么呢？原来是他在被询及前首相敦馬哈迪承認無法改變馬來人思維和態度時，斬釘截鐵的說：“我可以改變馬來人！”
他自认在擔任首相的5年期間，已經改變了馬來人的思維。
确实，如果我们拿5年前的情况和现在比较，不只是马来人的思维与价值观已经改变，印度人也改变了！而华人本来就比其他族群更具批判性，在批判性的程度上也比以往提高许多！
许多人在检讨国阵的败因时把伯拉更开明，开放同时温和的领导风格归咎为原因之一，普遍认为如果国家还在马哈迪时代，也许老早已有对策制止情况继续恶化，因此也不可能发生在308大选时的“失控”！
然而讲这种话的人也许忘记了不删剪网上任何消息的多媒体法令是马哈迪一手推动的，随后借由部落格和新媒体揭发的许多弊端也非一朝一夕间发生的，可惜的是伯拉刚上任时为人民编绘的美丽图案并没有立即落实，也深受其亲近人士的形象所拖累。
拖沓延误至今才通过的反贪污局法令，司法委员会法令也在国内一连串的事故发生后才得以提呈国会通过，他虽在卸任前完成了2004年的承诺，但毕竟受肯定的“效果”已大大减弱，现在人们的感觉是：“千呼万唤始出来！”
他说，馬來人已經改變過去的思維及價值觀，只是巫統忘記了馬來人已作出改變，如果馬來人已改變，而巫統卻不願意改革，那麼巫統將會滅亡！
我认为他的这句话说对了一半，其实更正确的说法应该是如果人民已经改变，而国阵属下的各政党却不愿改革，那么国阵将会灭亡！
因此我们希望他能在卸任前更大刀阔斧的带动一些政策与巫统党员甚至国阵成员党思维上的整体改变，如果说还有一些他以往想做做不到的，现在是最好的时机，我希望他在明年三月卸任时不但骄傲的说：“我改变了马来人，也改变了巫统，更改变了所有仍然处在“蜜月期”的成员党！”
无可否认的，外部的力量已激发国阵内部的检讨与重新出发，但检讨归检讨，现代人生活步骤急促，对于国家发展步伐的要求也非常急迫，因此国阵政府已没有时间慢条斯理，不但必须立即检视所有长期以来备受争议的议题，同时必须放下身段，立即做出符合民“益”国“利”的改革，也必须在带动国家发展上比民联走快一步！让言论自由为国阵的良好施政效劳，而非为民联抨击国阵效劳！因为我始终相信 “纸包不足火”和“欲盖弥彰”，同时我对人民的智慧与判断能力还是肯定和有期待的！

周美芬促政府对症下药，遏阻女性爱滋患者增加
（吉隆坡-17日讯）马华妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬促请政府加强推动妇女自我保护的醒觉运动，及对性生活活跃的瘾君子夫妇进行宣导工作，并对买卖淫者施与同等的刑法，以便有效遏阻女性爱滋患者增加的趋势。
据卫生部长拿督廖中莱透露，全国女性爱滋病带病毒者的人数已从1997年的5.02%增加至2007年的16.3%。其中75%染上爱滋病的女性患者年龄是介于20至39岁、70%是与异性性交被感染、60%则是已婚者。这说明大多数的女性爱滋病带原者由于缺乏正确认知和预防的方法，因此在不懂得保护自己的情况下，进行了不安全的性行为而受到感染。为遏制女性继续成为受害者，她建议政府制定一套有效制止情况进一步恶化的解决方案。无论是通过教育提升人民对婚姻忠诚的意识，抑或灌输进行安全性行为的重要性等，都是不可或缺的途径。
虽然如此，周美芬对于卫生部高度重视此问题，即计划成立防范女性爱滋病委员会，以专门研究预防及保护女性免受爱滋病迫害的策略及机制，表示欣慰，并赞扬在卫生部及妇女、家庭及社会发展部的努力下，爱滋病带病毒者人数已逐年下降，这表示卫生部推动的醒觉运动已取得一定的功效。
由于吸毒者共用针筒及性生活依旧活跃的瘾君子是导致爱滋病蔓延的祸源之一，因此政府有必要采取适当的应对措施，如确认瘾君子的背景并对其家庭进行宣导工作、提醒及教导患者伴侣相关的防范措施，才是根治问题的治标又治本方法。
另外，马华妇女组也呼吁有关当局严格管制买卖淫活动，即严厉取缔卖淫活动。同时，周美芬认为不仅是卖淫者受到对付，买淫者也应受到严厉的惩罚，以达到杀一儆百之效。

明年要增7萬5000女青年‧馬華婦女組招收新血

馬華婦女組主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬說，中委會已經同意由婦女組全國旗下的3641個支會，在2009年的一年之中，每個支會至少招收10名35歲以下的女青年，約相等於5萬名的女青年。而中央的女青年局，也同意在一年內招收至少2萬5000名女青年。她說，為了達致目標，婦女組增設了獎勵計劃，鼓勵各州婦女組超越所訂下的目標，招募更多女青年加入。周美芬表示，目前尚有4婦女組中委的空缺，保留予35歲以下的女青年。
她說，婦女組新聞局也全面推動互聯網等科技，把中央的訊息通過馬華的電腦系統傳達予所有基層婦女。
周美芬呼吁所有黨員、執委及中央代表通過電郵，把名字、身份證號碼、州屬會、區會、手機號碼及電郵地址等資料，傳送至infowanitamca@gmail.com, 以便收集資料，將來通過電郵及手機短信傳送訊息。
周美芬：確保更朗朗上口婦女組研究改黨歌
周美芬說，為了讓黨歌更加朗朗上口，婦女組要研究修改黨歌。
她說，經過探討後，他們決定在詞曲方面著手改進，針對黨歌的可唱性及時代性進行修改，以便黨歌更加朗朗上口。
“中委會將在2009年的中央代表大會上提呈有關建議，讓中央代表進行討論。”
她也說，婦女組將於明年3月配合婦女節，主辦一場感謝婦女組前主席拿督斯里黃燕燕、前總會長拿督斯里黃家定等領袖的感恩宴。
將要求國會管制議員尊重女性
周美芬說，婦女組中委會已通過，並將連同其他婦女組織提呈備忘錄，要求國會上下議院議長及首相署司法部，管制國會議員不尊重女性的言行。
以她為首的政治策略局，週日（12月14日）在甲愛化摩沙舉行的2008至2011年婦女組中央委員會第二次會議，在為期2天的腦力激盪營中，決定提呈有關備忘錄。

她希望当局正视小撮议员口不择言、带有畸视女性的言论，避免破坏国会形象。同时希望政府拟定国会、州会甚至市县议会中，议员们的言行准则，避免类似事件重演。
周美芬今午在爱化摩沙度假村，主持马华妇女组中央委员会第二次会议后，在记者会这么说。
她说，另一份备忘录，是针对国内女导游协会提出的诉求，包括女性在职场方面面对的问题，例如更新执照、被迫与男司机共用旅店房间等。
她表示将会与该协会商讨后拟定备忘录，再呈交给旅游部，以解决问题。
确保瓜登补选胜出 妇女组总动员助选
马华妇女组将总动员，从下月1日开始投入登州瓜登国会议席补选助选工作，确保国阵候选人漂亮胜出。
马华妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬今早在马华妇女组中央委员会第二次会议上，发表谈话，也表示妇女组将从明年开始广招女青年入会，壮大阵容。
她说，目前，国内拥有3641个支会妇女组，每个支会须招募至少10名35岁以下女青年，期使人数达到7万5000人。
此外，她要求全体妇女组党员提供她们的州属、区会、网址、姓名、身分证号码及手机号码，以便与总部保持联系，或提出建议，且资料将保密。
另一方面，周美芬表示妇女组在转型过程，必须提高姐妹们士气，因此将改进原有的国内党歌词曲，同时加强可唱性，容易朗朗上口。
她说，今天的会议也议决明年3月的妇女节感恩晚会，邀请卸任马华党要出席。另外，为配合年关将近，马华妇女组将协助单亲妈妈，详情稍后公布。

ALOR GAJAH: Wanita MCA and several national women’s non-governmental organisations are seeking changes to the Parliament’s Standing Order to check errant MPs, in particular those who utter sexist and indecent remarks against women in the House.
The group, led by Wanita MCA chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, will submit a memorandum to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia and his deputy Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar calling for changes to be made.
“We will submit a memorandum to Parliament on the need to regulate its code of conduct with regard to sexist and indecent remarks made by irresponsible politicians against women,” she said, adding the group would also be meeting up with Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz (Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department) to voice their views.
Chew, who had attended a two day meeting and brainstorming session with the wing’s central committee in Alor Gajah on Sunday, said she hoped the matter would be looked into seriously by Parliament and the Prime Minister’s Department.
“A special code of conduct against MPs who hurl sexist and indecent remarks, in particular towards the women, should be included.
“Such irresponsible remarks have brought the House into disrepute and are an embarrasment for the nation,” she told reporters at a press conference here on Sunday.
Chew, who is Wanita MCA political strategic bureau chairman, added that the code of conduct should also be implemented at the state and district levels so that “respect between the two genders is achieved at all levels of society.”

周美芬：政府有必要重新检讨减少华语新闻时数的决定

马华全国妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬对于新闻部将缩短华语新闻时数的报导，以及取消《午间新闻》和《前线视窗》的调整，感到遗憾及不满，因为这个决定无论是从经济效益、人民需求或政府传达讯息的角度来看都是难以让人接受的。
据媒体报道，大马国营第二电视台的华语新闻时段将缩短时数，即从原本的每天12时至12时30分的《午间新闻》，及晚上8时长达30分钟的《八点前线》，换去第一电视台晚上8时至8时30分播出，每日的总播时数从原本的1小时减半至30分钟。
“换句话说，在经过调整之后，《午间新闻》及《八点前线》播放前的《前线视窗》将被取消。”
据周美芬的了解，第二电视台的《八点前线》收视率高达40万至50万人，相等于甚至在一些时候更高于其它电视台的晚间新闻；而在第二电视的所有语文新闻中，《八点前线》的收视率也是最高的。此外，即便是12时的《午间新闻》，收视率也在15万到20万之间，比每小时播放的国语新闻的收视率还要高。
“由此可见，国营电视台的华语新闻广受华裔观众支持，相信拥有可观的广告收益，从华裔人民的需求以及经济学的角度来看，政府不仅不应缩减其播出时数，而是应该注入更多资源，提升其素质。”

马华全国妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬对于新闻部将缩短华语新闻时数的报导，以及取消《午间新闻》和《前线视窗》的调整，感到遗憾及不满，因为这个决定无论是从经济效益、人民需求或政府传达讯息的角度来看都是难以让人接受的。
据媒体报道，大马国营第二电视台的华语新闻时段将缩短时数，即从原本的每天12时至12时30分的《午间新闻》，及晚上8时长达30分钟的《八点前线》，换去第一电视台晚上8时至8时30分播出，每日的总播时数从原本的1小时减半至30分钟。
“换句话说，在经过调整之后，《午间新闻》及《八点前线》播放前的《前线视窗》将被取消。”
据周美芬的了解，第二电视台的《八点前线》收视率高达40万至50万人，相等于甚至在一些时候更高于其它电视台的晚间新闻；而在第二电视的所有语文新闻中，《八点前线》的收视率也是最高的。此外，即便是12时的《午间新闻》，收视率也在15万到20万之间，比每小时播放的国语新闻的收视率还要高。
“由此可见，国营电视台的华语新闻广受华裔观众支持，相信拥有可观的广告收益，从华裔人民的需求以及经济学的角度来看，政府不仅不应缩减其播出时数，而是应该注入更多资源，提升其素质。”

In response to the Information Ministry’s decision to drop the airtime of Mandarin news from one hour to thirty minutes as part of RTM’s restructuring exercise, Wanita MCA chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun today called on the Information Minister YB Dato’ Ahmad Shabery Cheek to reconsider its decision, by maintaining the existing airtime of the Mandarin news if not, extending it more. Replying a question at Dewan Negara, Shabery informed that the Mandarin news segment would be broadcast at 8pm on RTM1. Previously, the Mandarin news was telecasted at 12:00 noon and 8pm.
“I have gathered information that RTM1 would change into an information channel. RTM1 may go on air for 24 hours as a news station. Thus, I see no reason for the Mandarin news airtime to be halved,” Mei Fun said. “With the extension for screening hours, RTM1 should continue providing 1 hour for Mandarin news, if not more. It makes no sense to decrease the duration of Mandarin news. Similarly, with the longer broadcast time, the Tamil news should also be given more coverage.”
On another matter, Mei Fun also conveyed her disappointment that the 5-minute magazine programme aired before the 8pm Mandarin news maybe shelved.
Meanwhile, she also emphasized that “RTM2 Mandarin news enjoyed higher viewership compared to RTM’s news broadcasts in other languages, thus enabling more viewership to RTM.”
Comparing the statistics of news programmes, Mei Fun highlighted that, “the 12:00 noon Mandarin news held a viewership of 150,000 to 200,000 which was comparatively higher that the hourly news viewership which stood between 100,000 to 120,000. The 8pm Mandarin news audience grew higher with 400,000 to 500,000 viewers. This indicates that RTM’s Mandarin news competes on par with Mandarin news of other TV stations if not better.”
Owing to the outrage when the plug was pulled on What Say You, a popular Mandarin phone-in talk-show which discussed national issues, the Wanita MCA chief called on the Information to re-televise the said programme. “These days Malaysians pay more heed to transparency and openness. Being more sophisticated, Malaysians hold higher expectations from the government.
By re-broadcasting What Say You, the Barisan Nasional government demonstrates transparency and provides a link for public discussion.”

建立社区防灾系统
拨云见日（36）
淡江国际山庄土崩悲剧发生后， 我们看到了人民的悲愤、看到了朝野互轰、也看到了雪州苏丹温情送饭和某些人在伤口上撒盐，趁火打劫的一面。
在探讨如何制止悲剧发生方面，我们看到了检讨与禁止高地或山坡发展计划的指示与言论、也看到了检讨地方当局无需为土崩事件负法律责任的呼声！但似乎还没有看到有人提出建立社区防灾系统的重要性。
翻查过去发生在国内各地区的各类灾难，无论是水灾、火灾、风灾或是土崩和最近雪州水供公司所提供的资料显示，除了证明国内确实有许多地方是处在灾难的高风险区，同时也说明几乎所有的社区都不能免于灾害的威胁。
地方县市议会对高风险区的有效监督、法律的保障和国家灾难中心救援队伍的及时反应固然重要，但“远水救不了近火”，“远亲不如近邻”说明了灾难前的防灾、出现灾难可能发生征兆时的减灾与灾难发生当下的救灾工作和灾后的重建，最有效的方式还是落实建立防灾社区的目标！在社区内建立防灾观念，同时在平时就展开防灾的社区培训与动员演习。
玛拉工艺大学测量与几何系教授赛查马鲁丁预测，由于国际山庄土地正在移动，若未及时采取行动，在6个月内爆发更严重土崩的可能性是存在的。 他指出，如果当局允许居民继续居住，当局应在有关地区进行持续性监督工作，以及研究再次土崩的可能性问题。
国际山庄内的房屋价格高昂，禁止居民居住谁“能/将”赔偿他们的损失是一个大问题，即使解决了国际山庄的问题，国内到底还有多少个类似国际山庄的住宅区需要同等对待，因此禁止居民居住的这个方案可行性不高。 那要求安邦市议会定期检查并采取适时的修复与防范行动可行吗？可行！但监督工作的松紧、精准与有效度往往取决于执行者的素质，因此我认为如果政府尝试或人民要求政府在防灾工作方面完全一手抗起的话，那是不切实际的。
因此，政府应立即从鉴定国内灾难高风险区开始，在潜在“灾区”建立一个以社区为主体，经由民众参与、授权（Empowerment）的过程，凝聚社区的防灾共识与力量，并藉由推动减灾的措施来减少社区的易致灾因素，降低灾害发生的机率，而当万一发生灾害时，社区也可以防止灾害继续严重化，在灾害发生后，也能迅速的推动复原、重建，进而经由大家的合作与醒觉使社区迈向安全与永续发展。
2006年南马大水灾，我们马华志工团团员几乎参与了全程的救灾工作，以当时一支成立了才不过一年，尚未经历严格培训，也未经历真正救灾考验的队伍，柔佛州马华志工团能有效的参与救灾并深获好评，其最大的原因就是马华分布在灾区各地，掌握了灾区地理环境与人脉和了解如何获得救灾资源的在地领袖与党员的及时动员。发挥了社区救灾系统的缘故。
台湾位于环太平洋地震带上，地处西太平洋台风必经之处，所以向来是地震、洪水、山崩、土石流等灾害频密的地区，因此台湾的行政院灾害防救委员会在防灾工作方面的技术发展的非常好，他们定期在潜在“灾区”所展开的社区防灾培训与演习工作也进行得非常完善，以致灾难在无可避免的情形下发生时，社区内及时的救灾系统就可在政府救援队伍开进前，立即启动救灾和避免灾害继续扩大和严重化的防治工作。也许，我国救灾委员会应派员前往台湾考察，以学习他们先进的防灾工作。
无论如何，在一些潜在“灾区”推动“社区防灾系统”已是马华志工团未来的重点工作之一！

《请照顾人民颜面！》

国会下议员今日议决“反马来人”、“反华人”和“反伊班人”等言论有失国会体统！
下议院副议长拿督旺朱乃迪昨日針對巫统巴西沙叻區议员拿督达祖丁在辩论环节时发表“反马来人”言论有失议会体统后说：“我不要国会今后有“反马来人”、“反华人”、“反伊班人”等种族性言论在国会会议上发出现。”
为了证明他所言不虚，尊贵的议长还列出了一系列涉及发表有失体统的言论，包括：
诗南沙礼卡比尔“你是大大的煽动者”
马六甲沈同钦：“你（达祖丁）是种族极端主义者”
巴西沙叻达祖丁：“煽动者”
怡保东区林吉祥：“他因有颜色而成为副首相，这是一个上色的过程”
巴东色海古峇拉依斯南：“道德觀低廉、600萬令吉人、你是叛徒”
蒲種哥宾星：“你不能控制這群禽兽”
京那巴丹岸邦莫達拉丁：“你是大猴子”
华都牙也冯宝君：“叛徒”
尊贵的副议长“肯定”了问题的存在也“裁决”了问题的是非，但却“忽略”了问题的处理，因为他同时说了一句，议会不会指示达祖丁收回有关言论，反而将此言论作为今后参考， 他说，他参考了英国、加拿大、澳洲和纽西兰的国会，发现这些国家都未禁止种族性言论。
同样的，性别歧视的黄色言论似乎也成了国会最热门的议题，在上届国会回教党议员说女性犯“痒” ，巫统京那峇丹岸区议员莫达拉汀、野新区议员拿督莫哈末赛益的“月漏论”课题记忆犹新之际，上个星期巴西沙叻区议员拿督达祖丁发表意淫“出水论”，才刚道歉，结果两天前, 无党籍的巴西马区国会议员依布拉欣竟然发表三妻四妾，皆因“女性欲望强”的低级言论，国会越来越像“性事讲堂”。过去我们嘲笑台湾立法院常常大打出手如猴戏，今天我们似乎也应嘲笑大马国会只关注性事，已沦为“黄色架步”？
我们认同国会议员畅所欲言的议政权，但我们同时要求国会议员珍惜人民对他们的崇敬与期望，我们还记得许多党议员在剛赢取大选时信誓旦旦的说：“请别叫我YB”，但过后在所办活动的讲台上以斗大的字眼自称“YB”，甚至在自己的信笺上印上“YB”，显然国会议员都自认自己是应受“尊敬的”，如何恰如其分，如何让人感觉实至名归，看有关议员的议政方式与内容就可知一二。
我们不希望再看到满口黄色笑话，肉麻当有趣的言论，我们也应该谴责以煽动性言辞或为打击政敌，刻意扭曲是非或为捞取政治资本讨好某一族群而发表极端言论者，因为其心不正。
因着国会的言论自由，我们也许暂时还等不到国会议长“判罚”这类议员，但我们希望国会议长褫夺他们的“YB”称号，以体现孔子作春秋，一语定褒贬的作法！因为国会议员有两种，一种是“Yang Berhormat”， 一种是“Yang Tidak Dihormati” !
议员素质不但关系国会体统，也关乎国家体统！尊贵的也许无法为国贡献，但至少也得照顾照顾人民的颜面！

Chew Mei Fun: Pasir Mas MP Ibrahim Ali should undergo compulsory course on respecting women

Press Statement issued by Wanita MCA National Chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun over Pasir Mas MP YB Ibrahim Ali’s remark that “men marry many wives due to the women’s strong desire”
Wanita MCA National Chairman Chew Mei Fun today strongly condemns Pasir Mas Independent MP YB Ibrahim Ali for allegedly irresponsibly uttering gender-bias remarks that “men marry many wives due to women’s strong desire” and she urges Parliament to take serious action against him to prevent the same incident from happening again.
After the recent uproar over Pasir Salak MP YB Dato’ Tajuddin Abdul Rahman’s obscene remark, Parliament is once again rocked with another sexist remark from Ibrahim Ali.
Mei Fun did not spare expressing her disappointment over the attitude of certain male MPs in the Parliament.
“MPs in Parliament do not appreciate the opportunity to participate in healthy debates. They would rather pull cheap stunts seeking publicity and resort to discriminatory espousals which humiliate women,” expressed Mei Fun.
“Wanita MCA urges the Parliament to take strong action against MPs who fail to abide to the Parliament’s code of conduct because Parliament has descended into a place to spew vulgar slurs which not only offend women but the country’s image has been deeply affected thereby becoming a laughing stock in the eyes of the public,” reiterated Mei Fun.
Mei Fun expressed disappointment that “those who hurl sexist spews deride women and should learn how to respect women.”
“We would like to suggest that such a group be given a compulsory course on how to respect women and improve their understanding on the relationship between the different genders. This is an effective measure to prevent them against dishing profanities in Parliament,” stressed Mei Fun.
“We, together with the other women’s association, will submit a memorandum to the Parliament to voice out the urgency that Parliament needs to regulate the code of conduct for MPs,” said Mei Fun who is also the Wanita MCA Political Strategic Bureau Chairman.
She also urges Ibrahim Ali to apologise openly to all women in the country and to convey his regret over his derogatory remark which hurts the dignity of women.

“We would like to suggest that such a group be given a compulsory course on how to respect women and improve their understanding on the relationship between the different genders. This is an effective measure to prevent them against dishing profanities in Parliament,” stressed Mei Fun.
“We, together with the other women’s association, will submit a memorandum to the Parliament to voice out the urgency that Parliament needs to regulate the code of conduct for MPs,” said Mei Fun who is also the Wanita MCA Political Strategic Bureau Chairman.
She also urges Ibrahim Ali to apologise openly to all women in the country and to convey his regret over his derogatory remark which hurts the dignity of women.

Referring to the remarks unhurled by Pasir Salak MP Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman in Parliament on 27 November 2008, Wanita MCA National Chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun expressed her utmost disappointment over the spews and urged Tajuddin to apologize to all women and take full responsibility over his irresponsible remark.
“Parliament should dish out a heavy disciplinary action against Tajuddin by suspending him from entering Parliament for at least two months as a warning to the other MPs not to repeat the same offense,” emphasized Mei Fun.
“Parliament should also set up a code of conduct against MPs who espouse obscene remarks or racist terms to prevent the same mistake being repeated by others”.
Mei Fun added that “after last year’s uproar over the “leakage” remark, another profanity was again unleashed in our august house. As a male MP, Tajuddin should lead a good example and he is supposed to voice out his views in a proper manner and not resort to treating Parliament as a coffee shop or an acting stage.”
She expressed that a good MP should be someone who could articulate well his views. “If he fails to do so, he must not be allowed to churn any obscene or treat irresponsible spews as a joke. She added that Tajuddin has done just the opposite of what he is entrusted by the people to carry out in Parliament in our democratic country.
Mei Fun expressed hopes that “Tajuddin will self-reflect over his own action and is willing to apologize to the public and be prepared to accept whatever punishment delivered to him.”
“If Tajuddin fails to do so, Beliawanis in Wanita MCA will organize a ‘Say “No” to discrimination against women’ campaign in Tajuddin’s constituency to protest against his actions and demand him to apologize,” reiterated Mei Fun.

每一触及禁酒、养猪、华教等被一刀切归类为种族的课题，在马来西亚总是有扰扰攘攘的市场，政客斗得脸红耳赤，人民听得气愤填膺！这种情况，独立几十年来不曾停止，看起来，最近的将来也不会停止！
到底还要吵多久？到底还要“炒”多久？什么时候我们才能走出种族的思维框架？什么时候我们才能接受社会需要多元才能迸发火花，才能提精纳粹？
很多人说，马来西亚已经从种族政治走了出来，是的，这是我们大家一起追求的梦，但几十年来的积陋如何能在一夜之间翻盘呢？
阅读网上新闻报导说：“昨日矢口否认提出禁酒令建议的回教党巴生市议员，莫哈末特米兹今日改口承认说，他的确准备提出有关的建议，但因担心演变成政治课题，才在最后一刻急煞车。”
为什么会变成政治课题？因为他知道他即将提出的三大重点：
1）售卖酒精饮料必须在封闭式的地点进行，并需清楚设立售卖酒精饮品的告示牌- 有歧视享用酒类饮料者的嫌疑， 因此见不得人，必须在封闭的地点才能进行；
2）酒精饮品柜台服务员必须是非回教徒，同时必须另设酒精饮料收银柜台- 有在制造区分与隔离的意图；
3）市议会必须在不售卖酒精饮料的条件下，发出执照给便利商店、开放式餐馆、杂货店或药店及油站-- 有将售卖酒类饮品归类为罪恶，有罔顾市场需求，以个人信仰损及市场交易之嫌；
老实说，浅酌足以怡情，酗酒则足以伤身，甚而危及社会和谐，没有人会否认，但问题出在论述的方式让人感觉动机堪疑。
他的错误在于他的言论反映了他以回教徒为中心而罔顾了他族感受的狭隘思维，否则今天他可能会说的是：“政府应加强酗酒伤身误事的教育宣导工作，严格执法取缔售卖酒精饮品给回教徒与未成年孩童的商家”，如此将容易取得共鸣，也不可能会演变成政治课题！
但，必须说明的是，上述的情况并不一定放诸四海皆准，由于长期以来朝野与民间在处理种族课题方面大多时候都以“族权”为主题，因此留下的最大后遗症是各族间成见已定，社会对许多特定组织代表人物的刻板印象已定，导致这些“领袖”反而失去了可被接受的中肯发言地位。
我记得多年前曾在国会提出：“海水到处有华人，中国13亿人口市场庞大，为了经济，政府应鼓励全民学华语。”，此言一出，本人立即被标签为大华人种族主义者，名字以被“鞭笞”的方式登上马来报章封面版和出现在马来报章内页长达数天之久，“羡煞”从政多年名字不曾登上马来报章的前辈们！
有关言论有错误吗？没有！错在我是马华的代表，错在对方一直以为我们有以华语取代国语的动机与野心！
走出种族政治，从政者与全民的思维必须改变，这种改变必须大得足以突破日积月累所形成的成见，因为成见不除，沟通障碍依然存在，真正的相互接纳路途还远，但总会达到！

周美芬：达祖丁开黄腔侮辱女性，国会应杀一儆百

马华全国妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬对巫统巴西沙叻国会议员拿督达祖丁在国会发表严重侮辱女性的“出水论”感到愤怒，她促请达祖丁立即向全体女性道歉，以便为他的不负责任言行承担政治后果
周美芬说，国会当局也应对达祖丁采取纪律行动，下令达祖丁禁足国会至少两个月以上，以收杀一儆百之效。另一方面，国会也应制定惩罚议员“开黄腔”的行为准则，避免此类荒唐事件一再发生。
她表示，继去年闹得沸沸扬扬的“月漏论”以来，民主殿堂国会大厦再度发生令我国蒙羞的黄腔谬论，身为男性国会议员的达祖丁应作为人民的表率，发表具有深度的政见，而非把国会降级成咖啡店，成为他个人的做秀舞台。
“作为一个政治工作者，一个国会议员，有演说的才能，讲话讲得生动、形象、幽默、深刻，讲得很有学问，这自然是最理想的。然而，即使做不到这一点，也不能把话讲得太低俗，讲得太离谱、太不合情理，尤其不可张口骂人，把黄腔当成幽默，显得太没有水平，太缺乏涵养。达祖丁显然已成为我国民主政治的反面教材，将永远被钉在历史的耻辱柱上！”
周美芬强调，佛家有五戒，其中之一就是戒妄语，妄语之人若不知忏悔，罪过加重；唯有不妄语而赞叹他人，自然会获得善名美誉。她希望达祖丁自己能自我反省、道歉并接受国会的纪律裁决，否则她将指示马华妇女组女青年到达祖丁的选区展开“反性别歧视”的抗议行动。

周美芬：我不需林吉祥聘用
周美芬表示，目前的重點是放在如何克盡己責，解決在她上任前就已經存在的爛攤子，儘速給人民交代。她說自己不會包庇，也沒有必要包庇犯錯的人士。
此外，周美芬說，她也不需要林吉祥聘用她，因為道不同不相為謀。她說：“他不需要聘用我，因為道不同不相為謀。我也不想委屈自己。同時，你又叫我如何原諒明知黑白、但卻刻意黑白不分，有計劃地抹黑我的人。”
周美芬說，若她今天只是馬華一名普通黨員，林吉祥是不屑理會她的。不過由於她是馬華全國婦女組主席，所以林吉祥才會把瞄頭對準她。

（吉隆坡）馬華婦女組署理主席拿督尤綽韜今日（週日，11月23日）促請行動黨中央政策與策略委員會主席林吉祥，勿再對拿汀巴都卡周美芬“咬著不放”，應該讓後者好好履行Pempena執行主席的職務，糾正公司所存有的弊端。
她向《星洲日報》說，周美芬在出任此職位後，已下定決心要重整公司及糾正弊端。
“ 她（ 周美芬） 才上任幾個月，林吉祥為何迫不及待地要抨擊她呢？為何不給她一個機會，讓她以時間去証明如何糾正這家政府子公司過去所存有的弊端呢？
糾正公司弊端需時間
要糾正一家大企業公司的弊端並非朝夕之事，需要一段時間。我促請林吉祥不要再繼續抨擊她了。”她表示， 馬華婦女組是全力支持當局採取有效行動去糾正任何政府子公司所出現的管理或投資不當的問題。
“ 華人有機會擔任政府子公司的最高領導人及行使執行權力，應該給予正面建議，而非不斷打擊他們在政府機構里的努力。”

Shouldn’t Politicians Have A Code of Ethics?

There is a Chinese saying that “If you want to eat salted fish, you must be prepared to endure the thirst.” Indeed, if you want to be involved in politics and hold important posts at the same time, you must be prepared to face all plausible and unfair challenges and criticisms.
In the wake of the defeat in the March 8 general election, some former members of parliaments have chosen to cross-over and accepted appointment by the DAP and Parti Keadilan for posts in organizations or companies linked to the state governments. Unlike them, I decided to remain with the MCA and BN to face the electoral setback and hope to contribute towards the transformation of the MCA and BN government, and thus working towards a better future for the nation.
I can clearly remember that in last April when Datuk Seri Azalina Othman, Tourism Minister received me for the first time at the Malaysian Tourism Centre, she told me apart from responsibilities in the company, she also hopes that I could help to promote the Malaysian tourism in the “Chopstick” markets (countries and regions which use the chopsticks, including China, Taiwan, Japan and etc).”
I was extremely thrilled by the offer as I was given an opportunity after my election defeat to have a platform to continue serving the country. I then decided to turn down an offer by a private company which was much favourable than the offer by the Tourism Ministry.
I thought it was nothing wrong for me to continue serving the country. Unfortunately, after assuming the position, I found that the company was plagued with financial and investment problems. Everyday, apart from looking for ways to stop the ‘bleeding” of the company, I have to endure incessant allegations and slander by various quarters, including those from within and without the party. Recently, I was asked to resign and return the company’s car to the company by YB Lim Kit Siang (in fact, I am still using my 6-year old Camry). Lim has also made a lot of unfair criticism and allegations against me in the media and the internet.
His ground for demanding my resignation is “because I am now the chairman of MCA Wanita”. Such a ground is indeed so ridiculous that perhaps he may even be amused in his dream．Does he means that I have no right to serve the country other than the Parliament platform? Or just because I am holding a party post? Isn’t that fair I need to earn a salary for my living? I am not entitled to pension at this moment as I have yet to reach the age of 50, furthermore, this is my only job, I don’t have any other business or income. Unlike YB Lim, he is not only getting monthly allowance as a MP, but also getting a pension as former state assemblymen. Is it wrong for me to work and get paid and enjoy the resources which come along with my job? Furthermore, due to the financial position of the company, I have to use my own car for official duties and travel in economy class with domestic flight so as to cut down expenses as much as possible.
To demonstrate the transparency and our sincerity in revamping the company, we have provided YB Lim the audit report by professional audit firm Pricewaterhouse Cooper. He knows very well that the losses of the company were incurred before my appointment. He is in possession of the information contained in the report and some facts which he firmly believes. But he is unhappy even though the Tourism Minister has repeatedly stated publicly that appropriate actions, including lodging a report to the Anti-Corruption Agency, will be taken. Instead he continues to make dubious allegations against me demanding that I provide answers which he likes to hear knowing very well that the company is still looking for the right solution to revamp the company and while all plans are still pending and anything made public would affect the proposed revamp. His political design in doing so is obvious.
But I will never dance to his tune. I will continue to put the interest of the nation and the company above all. The persons who should be held responsible for the investment mistakes and losses of the company will be eventually identified and punished after the investigation carried out by the relevant authority.
There is a saying that “There is honour even among thieves”. Then, shouldn’t there be a code of ethics among those who want to fish political capital?

Such a ground is indeed so ridiculous that perhaps he may even be amused in his dream．Does he means that I have no right to serve the country other than the Parliament platform? Or just because I am holding a party post? Isn’t that fair I need to earn a salary for my living? I am not entitled to pension at this moment as I have yet to reach the age of 50, furthermore, this is my only job, I don’t have any other business or income. Unlike YB Lim, he is not only getting monthly allowance as a MP, but also getting a pension as former state assemblymen. Is it wrong for me to work and get paid and enjoy the resources which come along with my job? Furthermore, due to the financial position of the company, I have to use my own car for official duties and travel in economy class with domestic flight so as to cut down expenses as much as possible.
To demonstrate the transparency and our sincerity in revamping the company, we have provided YB Lim the audit report by professional audit firm Pricewaterhouse Cooper. He knows very well that the losses of the company were incurred before my appointment. He is in possession of the information contained in the report and some facts which he firmly believes. But he is unhappy even though the Tourism Minister has repeatedly stated publicly that appropriate actions, including lodging a report to the Anti-Corruption Agency, will be taken. Instead he continues to make dubious allegations against me demanding that I provide answers which he likes to hear knowing very well that the company is still looking for the right solution to revamp the company and while all plans are still pending and anything made public would affect the proposed revamp. His political design in doing so is obvious.
But I will never dance to his tune. I will continue to put the interest of the nation and the company above all. The persons who should be held responsible for the investment mistakes and losses of the company will be eventually identified and punished after the investigation carried out by the relevant authority.
There is a saying that “There is honour even among thieves”. Then, shouldn’t there be a code of ethics among those who want to fish political capital?

《政客有道德规范吗?》

有一句俗话说：“食得咸鱼抵得渴！”，是的，如果想从政，同时要担任重要职位，您就必须准备面对一切似是而非和不公平的挑战与责难！
308败选后，和其他败选的前议员，如李家全，陈纪光一般接受了政府属下单位或公司的委任，唯一不同的是他们选择跳槽，接受了行动党和公正党的聘用，而我选择留在马华，留在国阵，在承受打击后，希望为马华与国阵政府的转型贡献力量，进而为国家更好的未来尽点绵力！
记得很清楚，当今年4月初旅游部长拿督斯里阿查丽娜第一次在马来西亚旅游中心接见我的时候，她告诉我：“你除了担任旅游促进局属下公司的董事职外，我还有一个重要的任务给你，就是希望你能协助推广“筷子”市场（使用筷子的东方市场，包括中、台、日、韩等地）的旅游业。”
基于败选后仍有机会在另一个平台上继续为国家服务，我感觉雀跃无比，也因此决定拒绝了一家私人公司的邀请，虽然当时这家私人公司所提供的条件比旅游部所提供的还好。
满以为继续为国效劳并无不妥，可惜的是自上任后除了发现公司财务状况与投资问题多多，每天为了如何为公司“止血”，如何为整顿费尽心思外，还得应付持续不断的各类指责与诋毁，有些来自党内，有些来自党外，最近还被林吉祥要求辞职，归还公司车（我至今还用着自己车龄六年的CAMRY），甚至有劳他老人家每天喋喋不休的在报上，在网上对我作出许多不公平的批评与指责。
他要求我辞职的荒谬理由也许是连他本身午夜梦回时也会觉得可笑的:＂因为我当上了马华全国妇女组主席，所以应该辞职！＂．有党职就不能工作吗？我不用生活吗？请别忘记，马华没支付薪水给我，因为未足５０岁，政府也还没给我退休金，我不象他同时享有多个州的州议员退休金，未来从国会退下后还同时享有国州议员的退休金！我工作领取薪水，享有有关职位应享有的资源有问题吗？何况，因为公司的财务状况，我还用着自己的车；因为公司的财务状况，我在国内的飞行旅程所乘搭的都是经济舱！因为公司的财务状况，我们在行政与各项花费上尽量节约！
为了表示透明与整顿公司的诚意，我们为他提供了由专业公司Pricewaterhouse Cooper的检讨报告，他知道公司的亏损是我入掌公司前所发生，他掌握了有关报告内所提供的资料和一些他选择坚信不疑的资料，虽然部长也曾数次公开的说会采取适当的行动包括向反贪污局呈报，但他不满意，他继续的对我作出似是而非的指责，要求我在公司寻求重整方案尚在进行中，一切尚未成熟而作出任何公布都可能影响重整计划的情况下按他所想听的方式为他提供答案！其政治意图路人皆知！
我不会随他起舞，我会继续以国家与公司利益为主，对于公司的错误投资与亏损应该负责的人迟早会浮现，该罚的迟早要罚！

Press Statement by Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun
19th November 2008
YB Mr Lim Kit Siang in his blog of 18th November 2008, has made unnecessary statements against me in my appointment as the Executive Director of Pempena Sdn Bhd and suggested that I should resign and return the company car.
Firstly, I wish to clarify that I am not the Executive Director but the Executive Chairman of Pempena. In this capacity, I am a fulltime chairman. I have been tasked to restructure Pempena and its group of companies, which requires full devotion of my time. Amongst my other duties, I also attend weekly post-cabinet meetings and chairs Pempena management meetings. I am also a Member of the International Advisory Council for the Ministry of Tourism and have led Tourism delegations to promote Malaysia overseas.
There is no conflict of my work as the Executive Chairman of Pempena with my position as MCA Wanita Chief.
I do not hold any other employment or post besides those mentioned above.
I must stress also that I need not have to take up this post in Pempena as I have various offers in the private sector. I have however accepted this job in Pempena as my national duty.
Pertaining YB Lim’s statement that I am provided with a company car, I must state strongly here that I am using my personal car for official duty. Neither is a new car planned to be purchased for me by Pempena.
On the statement by YB Lim in reference to my apparent ‘warning of another May 13’, let me clarify that the said newspaper has apologized for their error. YB Lim should have checked his facts before bringing up the issue, again and again, to gain political mileage.
I am very sad that YB Lim continues to harp on the same issue with regard to my employment in Pempena.
YB Lim’s continuous politicizing of the Pempena issue has done nothing but take precious time away from my team and I, which could have been used more productively to resolve issues that really matter.

马华妇女组 《7大目标， 5大计划》

马华妇女组需要转型，需要重新定位，未来将朝7大目标，5大计划全面进发：
7大目标：
1. 扩大关怀面，当全民领袖
2. 政策倡导，专业问政
3. 纵横融汇，经纬贯连
4. 提供友善参政环境，招揽青年，培育青年
5. 强化，专业化妇女核心任务
6. 走入群众，融入社区
7. 贯彻健康政治文化

5大计划：
(1)专业论政，成立政治策略局，在国家议题与政府政策上主动出击, 适时回应！马华妇女组与时同脉，紧跟时局发展，适时回应，甚至介入；政治策略局将广纳人才组成智囊团，在新闻局与法律局的全面配合下定期会商，主动鉴定在国家立法与施政方面要倡导与寻求变革的议题，以做到专业问政所需要的“精，准，快！”
(2) 企动商机拼经济 – 成立经济局，扩大多元化终身学习中心功能为终身学习与经济发展中心，通过：（1）妇女技职培训、（2）商机与就业研发和（3）创业辅导，带领妇女突破经济颈箍咒，开创自主新天地！
(3) 招揽青年，培育青年 – 肯定与重视青年的参与，为青年提供友善参政环境：
(i) 缩小女青年年龄差距，凡35岁以下马华女性党员皆归类为女青年；
(ii) 除了已是正式中委的数名女青年外，委任来自各州的6名女青年领袖包括雪兰莪的邓丽 君、刘美霞；联邦直辖区的王小婷、黎美君，彭亨的郑春子，霹雳的黄美圆成为受邀中委，出席中委会，全程参与，并在适当时候委任适当者为正式中委。
(iii) 成立以总秘书王赛芝及女青年局主任郑慧玲为首，包含上述6名受邀中委的小组，与马青商谈组成联合委员会广招青年计划。
(4) 推动党员政治教育与因材施教 - 成立政治教育局，一方面配合党校系统性提供各级党员政治教育，另一方面则招募善于演说与写作的妇女党员进行相关培训，培训妇女论政议政人才。
(5) 专业化妇女核心任务，系统培训百人专业辅导志工，在总部及全国各州设立“妇女儿童援助局”，定期为弱势的妇女与儿童提供专业辅导与协助，并通过服务与专题研讨，收集改善政府相关领域的意见与资料，向政府倡议改革。
其余各局继续扮演各自角色，发挥各自功能，更详细及更具体的行动计划将於即将在一两个月内召开的第二次中委及脑力激荡会后确定！

7 OBJEKTIF DAN 5 RANCANGAN WANITA MCA
Wanita MCA di bawah pucuk pimpinan baru akan menjajarkan semula kedudukan dan transform melalui tujuh objektif dan lima rancangan seperti berikut:

1. Meluaskan horizon perkara-perkara yang kami ambil berat demi menjadi pemimpin untuk semua rakyat;
2. Memainkan peranan yang aktif dan utama dalam penentuan dasar kerajaan dan menggalakkan keprofesionalan dalam politik;
3. Memperkembangkan organisasi dan mengintegrasikan rangkaian kami dari seluruh segi;
4. Mewujudkan suasana yang ramah untuk menarik beliawanis menyertai politik serta memberi peluang untuk melatih dan memperkembangkan diri ;
5. Memperkukuhkan lagi serta memprofesionalkan misi teras kaum wanita;
6. Berintegrasi dengan komuniti dan menjadi organisasi yang berorientasikan rakyat ;
7. Menggalakkan budaya politik yang sihat
(Sila merujuk kepada isi kandungan yang ternyata dalam risalah kempen pilihanraya Ketua Wanita MCA)
5 RANCANGAN
1. Penubuhan Biro Strategik Politik untuk menuju ke arah keprofesionalan dalam bidang politik serta pengambilan peranan yang aktif dan responsif dalam isu-isu Negara dan dasar Kerajaan: Wanita MCA akan terus bergerak maju serentak dengan zaman, membincangkan isu-isu dan perkembangan terkini negara ini dengan mengambil tindakbalas yang cepat dan tepat pada masanya. Selain itu, Wanita MCA akan memainkan peranan aktif dan utama dalam penggubalan undang-undang dan pelaksanaan dasar Negara bahkan mengenal pasti topik yang sesuai untuk reformasi. Untuk mencapai matlamat ini, Biro Strategik Politik akan menubuhkan satu kumpulan Pemikir (Think-tank) dan bekerja erat dengan Biro Informasi & Komunikasi dan Biro Undang-undang untuk memastikan ia mencapai tahap “ungul, tepat dan cekap” yang diperlukan dalam pelaksaaan kerja politik yang profesional.
2. Penciptaan peluang perniagaan untuk menggalakkan pertumbuhan ekonomi: menubuhkan Biro Ekonomi untuk memperkembangkan fungsi Pusat Pembelajaran Sepanjang Hayat MPTC kepada Pusat Pembelajaran Sepanjang Hayat & Perkembangan Ekonomi. Dengan adanya 3 aspek utama iaitu (1) latihan vokasional untuk wanita, (2) penyelidikan terhadap peluang perniagaan dan pekerjaan, dan (3) khidmat kaunseling untuk wanita yang berhasrat menceburi dalam bidang keusahawanan, Wanita MCA akan dapat membimbing dan membantu kaum wanita dalam usaha meningkatkan taraf ekonomi dan mendirikan perniagaan sendiri.
3. Pengambilan dan pemeliharaan kaum belia: Penyertaan kaum belia dalam politik harus diberi pengitktirafan dan penghargaan yang sewajarnya agar dapat mewujudkan suasana yang ramah dan sesuai bagi mereka melibatkan diri dalam bidang politik: -
(i) Merapatkan jurang umur di kalangan ahli Beliawanis dan mengkategorikan semua anggota wanita MCA di bawah umur 35 tahun sebagai ahli Beliawanis.
(ii) Selain daripada beberapa ahli Beliawanis yang telah dipilih secara rasmi sebagai ahli Jawatankuasa Pusat, enam orang pemimpin Beliawanis dari beberapa negeri akan dilantik sebagai Ahli Jawatankuasa Pusat secara undangan, mereka ialah Sdri Rachel Ten dan Sdri Connie Liew dari negeri Selangor, Sdri Nicole Wong dan Sdri Jessica Lai dari Wilayah Persekutuan, Sdri Tee Choon Ser dari Pulau Pinang dan Sdri Kathleen Wong dari negeri Perak. Mereka akan diundang untuk menghadiri semua mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Pusat dan mereka yang sesuai akan dilantik secara rasmi sebagai anggota Jawatankuasa Pusat pada masa akan datang.
(iii)Pembentukan satu Jawatankuasa Kecil yang diketuai oleh Setiausaha Agung Sdri YB Senator Heng Seai Kie dan ketua Biro Beliawanis Sdri Tee Hooi Leng dan dianggotai enam ahli Undangan Jawatankuasa Pusat supaya menubuhkan satu jawatankuasa bersama dengan Pemuda MCA untuk membincangkan rancangan pengambilan kaum belia menyertai parti MCA.
4. Pelaksanaan Pendidikan Politik untuk anggota parti berdasarkan kebolehan dan kesesuaian: menubuhkan Biro Pendidikan Politik untuk berusaha dan bekerjasama dengan Sekolah Parti dalam menyediakan pendidikan politik secara sistematik kepada semua lapisan anggota parti. Selain itu, akan merekrut dan mengambil ahli wanita yang berbakat dalam pidato dan menulis untuk menjalankan latihan demi melatih dan meningkatkan penglibatan ahli wanita dalam hal ehwal politik.
5. Penubuhan Biro Bantuan Wanita & Kanak-kanak di setiap negeri - Perlaksanaan tugas teras wanita secara professional dengan memberi latihan kepada ratusan para-kaunselor sukarela yang sedia ada secara sistematik. Wanita MCA akan menubuhkan Biro Bantuan Wanita dan Kanak-Kanak di pusat Wanita MCA dan di semua negeri. Biro ini bersedia memberi khidmat nasihat dan bantuan kepada kaum wanita dan kanak-kanak yang kurang bernasib. Selain itu, ia juga akan mengumpul maklumat dan data yang berkenaan melalui perkhidmatan yang diberi serta seminar yang dianjurkan demi mengemukakan cadangan dan maklumat kepada pihak berkuasa yang berkenaan supaya dapat memperbaiki dan meminda dasar atau rancangan berhubungan dengan wanita dan kanak-kanak.
Biro-biro lain akan meneruskan dan memainkan peranan masing-masing, pelan tindakan yang lebih perinci dan konkrit akan ditentukan selepas Mesyuarat Ahli Jawatankuasa Pusat ke-2 dan Brainstorming yang akan diadakan.

(i) Merapatkan jurang umur di kalangan ahli Beliawanis dan mengkategorikan semua anggota wanita MCA di bawah umur 35 tahun sebagai ahli Beliawanis.
(ii) Selain daripada beberapa ahli Beliawanis yang telah dipilih secara rasmi sebagai ahli Jawatankuasa Pusat, enam orang pemimpin Beliawanis dari beberapa negeri akan dilantik sebagai Ahli Jawatankuasa Pusat secara undangan, mereka ialah Sdri Rachel Ten dan Sdri Connie Liew dari negeri Selangor, Sdri Nicole Wong dan Sdri Jessica Lai dari Wilayah Persekutuan, Sdri Tee Choon Ser dari Pulau Pinang dan Sdri Kathleen Wong dari negeri Perak. Mereka akan diundang untuk menghadiri semua mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Pusat dan mereka yang sesuai akan dilantik secara rasmi sebagai anggota Jawatankuasa Pusat pada masa akan datang.
(iii)Pembentukan satu Jawatankuasa Kecil yang diketuai oleh Setiausaha Agung Sdri YB Senator Heng Seai Kie dan ketua Biro Beliawanis Sdri Tee Hooi Leng dan dianggotai enam ahli Undangan Jawatankuasa Pusat supaya menubuhkan satu jawatankuasa bersama dengan Pemuda MCA untuk membincangkan rancangan pengambilan kaum belia menyertai parti MCA.
4. Pelaksanaan Pendidikan Politik untuk anggota parti berdasarkan kebolehan dan kesesuaian: menubuhkan Biro Pendidikan Politik untuk berusaha dan bekerjasama dengan Sekolah Parti dalam menyediakan pendidikan politik secara sistematik kepada semua lapisan anggota parti. Selain itu, akan merekrut dan mengambil ahli wanita yang berbakat dalam pidato dan menulis untuk menjalankan latihan demi melatih dan meningkatkan penglibatan ahli wanita dalam hal ehwal politik.
5. Penubuhan Biro Bantuan Wanita & Kanak-kanak di setiap negeri - Perlaksanaan tugas teras wanita secara professional dengan memberi latihan kepada ratusan para-kaunselor sukarela yang sedia ada secara sistematik. Wanita MCA akan menubuhkan Biro Bantuan Wanita dan Kanak-Kanak di pusat Wanita MCA dan di semua negeri. Biro ini bersedia memberi khidmat nasihat dan bantuan kepada kaum wanita dan kanak-kanak yang kurang bernasib. Selain itu, ia juga akan mengumpul maklumat dan data yang berkenaan melalui perkhidmatan yang diberi serta seminar yang dianjurkan demi mengemukakan cadangan dan maklumat kepada pihak berkuasa yang berkenaan supaya dapat memperbaiki dan meminda dasar atau rancangan berhubungan dengan wanita dan kanak-kanak.
Biro-biro lain akan meneruskan dan memainkan peranan masing-masing, pelan tindakan yang lebih perinci dan konkrit akan ditentukan selepas Mesyuarat Ahli Jawatankuasa Pusat ke-2 dan Brainstorming yang akan diadakan.

5 PLANS
1）Formation of the Political Strategic Bureau towards professionalism in politics and adoption of an active and responsive role in national issues and government policy: Wanita MCA must keep abreast with times and provide timely response and provide constructive input and suggestions on the latest developments in the various areas and play an active and leading role in law-making and policy implementation and identify topics for reform. In this respect, the Political Strategy Bureau must have a think tank which comprises talents from the various fields and meets regularly. The bureau should be complemented by a Publicity Bureau and a Legal Bureau to ensure perfection, precision, and promptness as required by professionalism in politics.
2）Creation of business opportunities to financial independence: (a) to set up Economic Bureau and (b) expand and diversify the functions of the MPTC Life Long Learning Centre to Lifelong Learning & Economic Development Centre by providing (i) vocational training; (ii) business opportunities and employment research and (iii) guidance to business startup and sustenance.
3）Recruitment and nurturing of young people: The political participation by young people should be duly recognized and appreciated so as to create a friendly and conducive environment for young women to involve in politics:
(i)By narrowing the age gap among Beliawanis members and categorize all women MCA members below the age of 35 years as Beliawanis members;
(ii)In addition several Beliawanis members who have been formally elected to the Central Committee, six Beliawanis leaders from the various states, including Rachel Ten and Connie Liew from Selangor, Nicole Wong and Jessica Lai from the Federal Territory, Tee Choon Ser from Pahang and Kathleen Wong from Perak will be appointed as Central Committee by invitation and will be allowed to attend meetings of the Central Committee. Those who are suitable will be formally appointed as full members of the Central Committee in due course.
(iii)Formation of a subcommittee headed by Secretary General YB Sdri Senator YB Heng Seai Kie and chairperson of the Beliawanis Bureau Sdri. Tee Hooi Leng and comprises the above six members of the Central Committee by invitation to form a joint committee with MCA Youth to discuss the plan of recruiting young people.
4）Promotion of Political Education for Wanita Members: Formation of a Political Education Bureau to complement the efforts of the Party’s School in providing systematic political and public administration education to all levels of members while recruiting and training women members with excellent public speaking and writing skills to nurture members to be well-versed with political knowledge and government affairs.
5）Professionalization of the core tasks of Wanita MCA by setting up Women and Children Aid Bureau: Setting up Women and Children Aid unit in Head Quarter and various states will be carried out to systematically train hundreds of volunteer counselors. The bureau will regularly provide advice and assistance to underprivileged women and children. It also provides services and organizes talks and seminars to collect information and data on the relevant areas of the government with the view to promoting reforms and improvement.
The other Bureaus will continue to play an active role in promoting their respective functions. The detail and concrete plans will be formalized after the 2nd Wanita Central Committee Meeting and Brainstorming in 1-2 months’ time.

拨云见日（32）- 越来越火
《越来越火！》
日前国会下议院议长班迪卡说他同意执法人员到国会发传票给在国会大厦内吸烟的议员和官员，我呼吁有关当局立刻以行动回应有关言论，下星期一就进入国会取缔违法者！
原因很简单，国会议员的主要职责是在国会殿堂里立法，立法者必须守法是自然法则，立法者以身试法或立法者违法罪加一等更是天经地义！但，请记得，如果我的建议获得采纳，请在行动前执行以下建议：
1）请在取缔行动前24小时在国会张贴海报或发短讯通知所有议员大人们，让大家有所准备，以免被犯上不尊敬民选议员就是侮辱选民的滔天大罪；
2）如果只是为了杀一儆百，请务必找执政党议员下手以示公正廉明。
我呼吁被逮个正着的议员别喊冤，因为你知法犯法、你不懂得避风头、你进错党！这就有如广东谚语所说的：“蕃薯跌入火坑，该wui (烤)？”
我的以上言论不宜过于认真对待，但却值得细细咀嚼，不同背景者会有不同体会，激烈的反对党支持者会骂我立意不良，甚至会嘲讽我不知检讨为执政党喊冤；而执政党党员与议员也可能骂我：“食碗面翻碗底”拿自己人开刀，但也可能会心有戚戚焉！无论如何，你如何解读我的文章和我无关，因为你不是我肚里的蛔虫，请别为我硬加罪名！
议员立法，公务员执法，立法行政职权本就分明，时下问题多多是因为立法者干预执法者，执法者利用立法者。
立法者认为自己代表人民，获得“特别待遇”是应该的，即使犯法也不得以一般程序对待，而需“有礼”，我们看到议员关心自己在牢里吃什么，但到底他/她有没有真正关心其他嫌犯在牢里吃什么？有关议员为自己的被亏待吵了一轮后到底还有没有跟进牢里其他嫌犯目前吃的是什么？还是在报章博取同情，捞取了政治资本后就如过眼云烟，若无其事？
另一方面，执法者以从者为屏障，上有政策，下有对策，行政偏差问题层出不穷！东窗事发后议员们忙于救火，火熄了还得防火，不小心“火”多了人民越来越“火“！这种事前无风无息的“火”除了在中央烧，在国阵执政的州属烧，好像也已开始在民联执政的州属慢慢烧起来了！
立法者从政道德有问题，不懂得严以律己，以身作则，政治将持续乌烟瘴气！执法者滥权，国家发展将被拖慢！居高位者如果是只重权术，只为讨好，在各势力间求平衡而确保自己千秋万载屹立不倒者，可列之为政客；如坚持真理，捍卫正确价值，虽荆棘满途却踏之如坦途，虽千万人亦吾往矣，则可列为从政者！

《善用民主自由》
在台北车上和司机聊起了最近台湾的政坛，问起陈水扁，司机恨得牙痒痒，说他淘空国家公款；问起马英九，司机的口气充满了无奈：“我们选马英九是因为他清廉，但他并不是出色的总统，至今没有什么表现，反而问题一箩箩！”
其实马英九从5月20日就任总统至今不过才短短的4个多月，承接的是百业待兴，待整顿的政府，加上碰上全球经济不景，要在短短几个月里有所表现并不容易。
忍不住再继续追问：陈水扁和马英九两位都是曾经担任台北市长后才晋身为总统的人，那他们担任台北市长时的表现又如何呢？ 司机的答案是：“两个一样，平平无奇” 我旋即例举了两项马英九在市长任内所落实的计划，他恁了一下，接着是沉默以对．我禁不住以有点愤愤不平的口吻说：“连我这个来自海外的人都说得出，怎么您竟然忘了呢？”，结果他的回答更不屑：“那是他本来就应该做的事，有什么了不起？”哈哈，关键就在－－于人民的眼中很多的计划与改革是应该的，是理所当然的！人民对当选者的期望是特高的，在台湾如此，在马来西亚一样．相信在美国亦然！选举成绩赢得越漂亮者，人民的期望越高．胜选狂欢过后迎来的是挑战，前所未有的严峻挑战！
观看电视节目“101高峰会”，台湾法务部长受访时说，有民众看到她时，从远处向她高喊，大意是：“快点把他（陈水扁）抓起来吧！还等什么？”她说，法庭审讯有它的程序，快不得，不能干预！这就是司法公正的可爱之处，所以陈水扁下台后，最近还马不停蹄的到处举办群众大会，继续的对当政者左右开弓，国民党对他无可奈何，民进党也一筹莫展！这就是民主的可爱！ 即使大多数的民众都对这样的情况感觉厌恶希望案情越早审结越好，但为了捍卫民主自由，唯有接受．仔细观察，发现台湾的大部份群众已对此采取见惯不怪的态度，反正只要不暴力流血，不动摇到国本，你有你造势，我有我观察，日常作息不受影响，马照跑，舞照跳！马来西亚最近的政坛百态，夺权闹剧，不也有所雷同吗？
日前反对党议员针对副首相在国会总结财政预算案时宣布的70亿令吉救市方案提出技术与程序问题抗议,结果引起激烈争论，议长被迫宣布提早半小时休会！技术问题很重要，救市方案更重要！需不需要因此平白浪费了有效率辩论各类国家课题的半小时，足以验证议员们的论政智慧与技巧，也足以作为检验议员是以“政治为主，还是以民福址为上”的从政价值！在这个崇尚自由的时代里，掌握民主自由权力者必须懂得善用民主自由！

Wanita MCA : Open tenders show the government's initiative to boost the economy

Press Statement issued by Wanita MCA National Chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun
MCA Wanita National Chairman, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, welcomed the suggestion by our Deputy Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak that the government may consider carrying out an open tender policy whereby private and Government Link Companies (GLC) may bid for government projects openly. She lauded the suggestion as "such a move may help to generate more revenues for our country."
The government unveiled an RM7 billion stimulus package to reinforce and stimulate the economy and Mei Fun therefore believes that, "if the suggestions by the Deputy Prime Minister are implemented effectively and successfully, the government will definitely reach its objectives as well as helping to relief the burden of the public at this economically challenging time."
"As mentioned by the Deputy Prime Minister, there are certain conditions and guidelines for open tender projects that must be met by the private sector or any of the GLCs whereby the blueprints of their companies should get prior government approval to obtain any of the government projects."
"MCA has always urged the government to practise open tenders regardless of any field as we need to be more open-minded in facing this era of globalization where competitiveness is embraced above any protection policy practices" said Mei Fun.
She added that, "in short, the government should maintain a macro outlook to rectify the imbalance between bumiputera and non-bumiputera companies in the distribution and awarding of government projects which have occurred. The government should agree that every race in this country should have equal opportunities when bidding for open tenders for government projects."
Finally, Mei Fun re-emphasized that, "the suggestion of open tender policies for government projects has proven the earnestness of our ruling Barisan Nasional government to hear the concerns and interest of the people while adopting measures to overcome the economic recession as a result of the global finance meltdown."

周美芬：公开招标显政府开明策略救经济
（吉隆坡5日讯）马华全国妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬欢迎副首相拿督斯里纳吉提出的建议，私人界及政联公司可以通过公开投标的方式，竞投政府资产及进行发展工程，以增加政府的收入。
她说：“在经济低迷时期，政府增进70亿打拼国家经济，而副首相所提及的公开投标政府资产概念若能够落实，那么政府就能够从中获益，为国家提高收入；但是，政府在行政层面上应该存在绝对的透明化，避免出现任何“上有政策，下有对策”的偏差行为。”
副首相拿督斯里纳吉日前指出，公开投标方式有一些设定条件，私人企业界或政联公司在投标相关发展工程的时候，必须遵守并符合相关条件，而所提呈的发展蓝图亦必须获得政府认同与批准。
“马华公会一直以来，都秉持政府工程应该公开招标的立场；如今，全球经济环境已不容许国家继续固步自封，只有开放的政策才能提高国内各经济领域的竞争力，顺应大时代的趋势发展，让国家经济进步发展。”周美芬如此表示。
“换句话说，政府应该秉持宏观的全民角度，积极纠正存在于土著与非土著之间工程分配的差异现象，并认同国内各族都应有公平竞标的机会，而非沿用封闭式策略面对全球化。”她补充。

（吉隆坡5日讯）马华全国妇女组主席拿汀巴杜卡周美芬欢迎副首相拿督斯里纳吉提出的建议，私人界及政联公司可以通过公开投标的方式，竞投政府资产及进行发展工程，以增加政府的收入。
她说：“在经济低迷时期，政府增进70亿打拼国家经济，而副首相所提及的公开投标政府资产概念若能够落实，那么政府就能够从中获益，为国家提高收入；但是，政府在行政层面上应该存在绝对的透明化，避免出现任何“上有政策，下有对策”的偏差行为。”
副首相拿督斯里纳吉日前指出，公开投标方式有一些设定条件，私人企业界或政联公司在投标相关发展工程的时候，必须遵守并符合相关条件，而所提呈的发展蓝图亦必须获得政府认同与批准。
“马华公会一直以来，都秉持政府工程应该公开招标的立场；如今，全球经济环境已不容许国家继续固步自封，只有开放的政策才能提高国内各经济领域的竞争力，顺应大时代的趋势发展，让国家经济进步发展。”周美芬如此表示。
“换句话说，政府应该秉持宏观的全民角度，积极纠正存在于土著与非土著之间工程分配的差异现象，并认同国内各族都应有公平竞标的机会，而非沿用封闭式策略面对全球化。”她补充。

Wanita MCA National Chairman, Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun expressed her disappointment over Selangor Menteri Besar YAB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim's decision to finally bow down to pressure from UMNO and PAS; that is, after Sdri. Low Siew Moi's contract ends, the position of Acting General Manager of Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) will be filled up by a Bumiputra candidate. After Tan Sri Khalid made the announcement that Low's service will end next year, PAS had already recommended 19 candidates to him to fill up her position.
"Khalid should stand firm to his principle to adhere to the criteria of using only 'capability as the main guideline in any selected position regardless of race'. In fact, Pakatan Rakyat always emphasizes a multi-racial approach in governing the country. Thus, there should not be any quotas or limitations on the selection of candidates for any government positions, but rather it should be open to suitable candidates including searching among non-Bumiputra candidates for any government position", Mei Fun reiterated.
"Even though Low had reached the retirement age and her contract had been extended to serve the state government, however there are certain PAS and UMNO leaders who question her capabilities to helm PKNS. Their actions serves only to cover up their racial mindset," she added.
Mei Fun then questioned whether the appointment of any government position should be in accordance with one's capabilities or adhering strictly to a Bumiputera quota.
On another matter, referring to the statement made by Pakatan Rakyat's de facto leader, YB Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim who expressed that Pakatan Rakyat had agreed to select Malay professionals to fill up the related position, Mei Fun urged Selangor DAP leaders to state their stand over Anwar's statement.

她敦促卡立应站稳"不分种族，只问能力"的大原则，挑选人才时应扩大遴选范围，包括考虑其他非土著专才以接任刘秀梅的职务，不能只局限于土著专才的狭隘考量，以符合民联致力打造的多元种族路线。
周美芬说，刘秀梅虽然已达退休年龄并以延长合约的方式来为州政府服务，但部分回教党及巫统议员不能以此为借口来质疑其担任代总经理的能力，以掩饰他们的单元种族思维的虚伪真面目。

民联执政前曾口口声声表示将摒弃种族主义，改以全民的利益为施政方针，但在委任发展局总经理属州务大臣权限的一事上，不过因回教党等极端种族主义份子的叫嚣而屈服，试问人民又如何奢望民联，尤其是来自号称“多元种族政党”的公正党，会捍卫由多元族群组成的雪州人民利益？

拨云见日(30) - 重要的是：你愿意
《重要的是：你愿意！》
10月18日马华代表大会上，拿督斯里黄家定在他的最后一次总会长演词中在首相面前说出了这么一句：“最尊贵的首相，马华再也没有能力为华校筹款了！”结果引来全场掌声雷动！
照道理这样一句有点泄气的话应该让全场静默，懊恼无语才对，怎么反而引起掌声如雷呢？原因很简单，因为这其实和有没有能力为华校筹款无关．只要愿意，支持马华为华校筹款者还是存在的，而愿意为华校慷慨捐献者还是不少的！问题是，如果308后我们仍然不懂自省，还一厢情愿的以为因此就能满足人民的需求的话，那无异于自作孽不可活！
有关言论间接但清晰的表达了他认为马华从此应在协助华校发展上以追求制度化，从根源解决问题为主轴的立场获得了与会代表的认同，同时也为代表们长期郁闷于胸的一股闷气提供了渲泄的出口！过去为华校努力筹款的结果虽不至于落得热脸碰着冷屁股的结果，但在众多曾经直接或间接投入兴学奔走奉献的代表们的感受上也相距不远矣！
然而在过去那种一方面锲而不舍寻求个案接个案解决，一方面在解决新建，搬迁后，为了尽速落实华社兴学心愿而主动筹款的作法已受到了置疑后，是不是意味着从此就无需再筹款了呢？看看在解决了课室与基本设备后仍然不断提升学校设备的华校还大有人在的情况，就应该知道即使果真制度化了学校发展，华社兴学办校的那股热火还是灭不了的！
今天如果我说，其实国内的绝大多数，包括位于城市资源丰富的国小和国中还依旧使用着拉开数间课室的隔板后形成的传统 ‘礼堂’ 的话，也许您会认为我在找开脱的借口，但您不得不同意这证明了即使未来政府制度化了各源流的兴学办校，除非政府能承担起各校董家教的所有发展要求，否则为华校筹款的日子看来不会终结，然而是不是要缴这第二份的所得税，没有法律约束，主权在你，重要的是你愿意！重要的是无怨无悔！而马华能袖手旁观吗？显然很难！

《马华党选面面看》
自从上届马华党选黄家定开启了让大家自由公开竞选的文化后，马华的党选少了烟火味，反而增加了几许的嘉年华会气氛．本届党选翁诗杰标榜没有派别只有团队，他的拉票行程欢迎各路英雄自由参与，于是乎管他ABCD队，只要有团结宴,有拉票聚会，大家都可以出席，尽管知道 ‘道不同不相为谋’，也许私底下还会窃窃私语，暗自拉帮结派，但表面上总算有说有笑，甚至互相交换拉票心得，再没有过往那种仇人见面分外眼红的紧绷. 即便是主要职位在选举期间的交锋，个人觉得和过去的你死我活比较也宛如小巫见大巫．加上这几年中委会的透明与民主操作，奠定了成熟的论政氛围，除了对某些课题因看法不同而偶有火花外，也都是对事不对人，因此在选情激烈下所举行的最后一次中委会，温馨的离别依依之情反而盖过了选举进入倒数阶段的剑拔弩张，让人完全感受不到锋火．
此次马华党选在不被看好的情况空前热烈，让许多预测党职将比后候选人多的时评者跌破了眼镜，整个竞选期间各报竞相分析与预测，有扑风捉影的，有唯恐天下不乱的，有更多半夜吃黄瓜不知头尾,让知情者啼笑皆非的，更有被 ‘放风’ 者利用以借刀杀人的评论，让受影响的候选人恨得牙痒痒却不敢抗议以免死得更为难看！
无论如何，由于没有明显的派系，加上各区会无干预的开放让候选人会见代表，因此选前虽然 ‘菜单’ 满天飞，但作用不大，大多数的代表在几个月里赶赴了多场饭局，体重稍增，阅读了多张竞选传单后，心下都有了底，因此我们看到不被看好的候选人因为连续两届勤于跑动，结果诚意感动了代表而中选；我们也看到了上一届以特出的宣传品结果虽然寂寂无名却以最高票落选的李伟杰，随者其不舍不弃的坚持，不但带动拉了本届各候选人竞相下重本印制精美宣传品与纸袋，也从最高票落选到以最高票当选，笑傲本届党选！他在最后一分中推出的完整候选人名单，让代表们感受到他的体贴不但为他加分也让许多挖空心思想借宣传品出位的候选人掏心锤肺，可见党选也很讲究宣传技巧呢！然而，值得一提的是，这次最威的莫过于是公开表明没有竞选宣言，也没有特别印制任何宣传品，有的只是一张没有时限，电话随时可接通的律师名卡的王乃志，他的中选说明了只要平时有表现，竞选不一定得花钱！
这次的党选在激烈但不火爆的气氛下进行，在公开，透明和民主的方式下完成，为马华转型跨出了成功的第一步，我们衷心的期望从今以后，无论是在位的或已退休的，无论是党内的，党外的和媒体，都以乐见马华转型大步前行的心态扶助，党内诸公别再进行任何有违民意，发表任何不符道德价值的事，我们希望第一号和第二号人物以合作无间的事实的让置疑双方互动能否和谐的道听途说者再跌破眼镜，反正自然花乐的清道服务还过得去！

Chew supports MB’s decision
KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita MCA chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun has urged Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to stand by his decision to appoint Low Siew Moi as acting general manager of the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).
In supporting Low’s appointment, Chew said Khalid should not back down on his decision.
“Even though I share a different political ideology with Tan Sri Khalid, I believe in the Selangor Mentri Besar’s trust and confidence in women’s capabilities to helm PKNS,” she said in a statement yesterday.
Chew stressed that the appointment of top government posts should not be based on skin colour or gender but on the ability to perform.
She criticised Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Hassan Mohamed Ali and former Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo who questioned Low’s appointment.
Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation executive council member Tan Sri Robert Phang questioned why Low’s appointment was only temporary. “So long as the person is experienced and professionally qualified, she should be given the fair opportunity to lead a corporation, and even upgrade the social economy status of bumiputras,” he said in a statement. Shah Alam Umno information chief Mohd Azhar Othman said the appointment was against the main aim and policies behind the setting up of corporation and marked the first time it would be led by a non-bumiputra since it was set up in 1964. “It is as though he is belittling the experience and credibility of the Malay officers in PKNS,” he said in a statement yesterday. Mohd Azhar said that two candidates who should have been considered were deputy general manager (administration) Md Nasir Md Arshad and deputy general manager (technical) Abdul Ghani Hassan. On Tuesday, the Selangor Malays Residents Action Body held a protest against Low’s appointment outside the Selangor state secretariat building. The group’s chairman, Kamaruddin Raja Ab Wahid, said the appointment infringed on Malay rights and insulted the Sultans.

Shah Alam Umno information chief Mohd Azhar Othman said the appointment was against the main aim and policies behind the setting up of corporation and marked the first time it would be led by a non-bumiputra since it was set up in 1964. “It is as though he is belittling the experience and credibility of the Malay officers in PKNS,” he said in a statement yesterday. Mohd Azhar said that two candidates who should have been considered were deputy general manager (administration) Md Nasir Md Arshad and deputy general manager (technical) Abdul Ghani Hassan. On Tuesday, the Selangor Malays Residents Action Body held a protest against Low’s appointment outside the Selangor state secretariat building. The group’s chairman, Kamaruddin Raja Ab Wahid, said the appointment infringed on Malay rights and insulted the Sultans.

Wanita MCA National Chairman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun today urged Selangor MB YB Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim to be firm in his professional view and stand over the appointment of Sdri Low Siew Moi as Acting General Manager of Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).
Emphasizing that, "Tan Sri Khalid should not be influenced by PAS or any quarters and then compromise on his decision on the appointment Sdri Loh Siew Moi to the top post in PKNS," Mei Fun concurred that, "even though I share a different political ideology with Tan Sri Khalid, however I believe in the Selangor Menteri Besar's trust and confidence in women's capabilities to helm PKNS."
She stressed that, "in this globalised world, the appointment of top government posts should not be based on skin colour or gender. Those with capabilities and are able to perform should be given the opportunity to serve." She added that, "if the person appointed performs well meritoriously, they should be allowed to continue their service in their respective positions. However, if they failed to perform, it is never too late to terminate their services."
Mei Fun also criticized the statements made by Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Dr Hassan Mohamed Ali and former Selangor MB, Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Khir Toyo who questioned the appointment of Sdri Low Siew Moi PKNS as Acting General Manager based on her race and gender.
She added that, "the behaviour of these two leaders who questioned and prejudiced the capabilities of women will not increase the country's competitiveness and encourage economic growth. At the end of the day, the country will experience brain drain with more and more talented professionals leaving Malaysia for other countries to seek work and pursue their ambitions."

Mayang Jaya folk get futsal court
AFTER a three-year wait, SS26 Taman Mayang Jaya folk finally have a futsal court.
“Many who come to the park here are older folk. We hope the futsal court can help bridge the gap between them and the younger generation,” said Futsal Sports Club committee chairman James Teo.
Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, who officiated at the court’s launch, was glad she could fulfil the last promise she made to residents before the general election.
“Funds for the court were provided by the Housing and Local Government Ministry.
“The project was approved by the Petaling Jaya Municipal Council (MBPJ). Since the local councillors had not been elected at that time, the tender could not be carried out. Hence the delay,” she said.
In addressing the issue of the Taman Megah Mas tunnel and flash floods in Petaling Jaya, Chew said: “When approving high-rise buildings, we take into account the drainage system, traffic congestion and other problems that may arise.
“If the tunnel is closed, some residents will be happy while others won’t. Thus, to solve one problem, make sure you do not create another problem.”
Meanwhile, Teo urged residents to become members of the Futsal Sports Club to enjoy the court.
“It costs RM60 a year to be a member. Non-members have to pay RM120 a year to use the court. The funds will be used to maintain the court,” he said.
SS26 resident’s association chairman Liew Wei Beng said the association would approach MBPJ to install lights for the court.

Wanita wing wants to be a serious player
KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita MCA needs to break the stereotype that it only focuses on women’s issues.
Wanita chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said yesterday this stereotype has over the years resulted in many in the community regarding the wing as pursuing petty issues.
“The perception is a strong one. People have put us aside. People will not give attention to whatever matter we raise,” she told reporters at the end of the party’s 55th annual general assembly.
Chew said the wing would no longer confine its struggle to only women, children and family issues.
“Until today, there are people who consider women’s issues as petty issues. What is most important is to transform and rebuild our image and give people hope,” she said.
Chew added that the wing would be more vocal in a pragmatic manner in its struggle for the people.

从最近各主要媒体对马华党选的广泛报道与评论足见马华公会并未因３０８大选惨败受到公众的漠视，相反的大家都聚焦于两千余名的马华党员将投选出怎样的一个团队，因为这个团队将决定马华的未来，也将决定国家政治的未来发展。
媒体与公众对马华党选的重视，在某个程度证明了大家认同马华在国内政坛的份量，而这个份量的轻重将随着党选成绩的出炉在关心马华党选的每个人心中“尘埃落定”，可以预料的是无论党选结果如何，评论马华党选成绩与预测马华未来领导方向的言论必将倾巢而出，好评如潮固然可以为马华的重建奠定一个好的开始，万一恶评如潮则马华前进必将匍匐难行，换句话说，要取得大选后重振雄风的好开始，本届马华中央手中的一票如何投必须作出比以往更审慎的思考。
以政纲选？以才能选？以德行选？以利益选？以性别选？以地区选？以派系选？还是以交情选？如果逐一打分，应以那一个条件占最大比例？我想每位代表难免都将在抉择时经历一点痛苦挣扎的过程！尤其是当和自己素有交情的同志在各方面无法取得足够的分数的时候，如何抉择？因为理性的答案必然是以“能”者居之，但对好朋友又“于心何忍”呢？

看黄家定的不参选；
看伯拉的退位；
看输了大选跳槽后对原本栽培自己的党极尽诬蔑批判；或输不起还不断找代罪羔羊或不断放火；或悄悄退位，不带走一片云彩；
看因各种原因不得不自己下台或被迫下台，过后再战江湖；
看为了个人私利不惜典当国家经济与稳定，操弄也嘲弄民主；
看退位领袖不甘寂寞对接任者步步进迫等政治人物的风貌，可以得出以下结论：
政治是崇高的！
政治是残酷的！
政治是无常的！
政治也是肮脏的！！
可见政治之崇高或肮脏全在人为，唯一可惜的是残酷的、无常的和肮脏的似乎总是盖过了“崇高”的形象，因为这个现实，所有从政者在位时的形象似乎都好不到那里去！退位后，少了利益关系，反而在人们的回顾中会赢回尊重！
许多人看到代议士在位时的风光，很少人看到败选后的失意与失落，甚至失业和下台后的冷清（这就是为什么某些从政者总是不甘寂寞，连输多次还是坚持屡败屡战！）。
最近出席各州党代表大会，发现自从拿督斯里黄家定宣布不参选党职后，以往对拿督斯里黄家定亦步亦趋的媒体已立刻转移了焦点，即使开幕者是黄家定，开幕后追踪采访的对象却是现下的马华当红炸子鸡（为免影响选情，恕不点名），甚至曾经发生电视台记者在焦急下转过头来瞪着眼睛要求大家噤声时却发现站在最近者竟然是马华总会长的窘境，难得的是黄家定神态自若，笑着立刻把食指放在唇上转过头来示意大家噤声！
黄家定可以如此从容自在，因为这是他的选择，因为他了解也接受政治的现实，甚至刻意的拒绝了许多的邀请，让自己逐渐从镁光灯下淡出，但换着是其他人就不同了，没有镁光灯的日子也许是很寂寞难耐的，敦马会不会是其中一位呢？他辛辣的言辞，对当政者毫不留情的批判至今仍是媒体焦点！

潘俭伟，别推卸责任！

（八打灵再也15日讯）周美芬服务队队长庄赐昭呼吁身为八打灵再也北区国会议员的潘俭伟负起担任人民代议士的责任，关心选区居民的生活福祉，而非在发生问题后把责任推给已不在位的周美芬为他承担责任。
他针对潘俭伟发表文告要求周美芬出示证据证明每季度完成深化河流的证据感觉啼笑皆非。他说，潘俭伟身为该区国会议员本应检讨疏忽，承担责任，从此关注有关课题，以免水灾再次发生，但现在他反而企图混淆是非要周美芬为他承担责任，让人极度失望。
他说，从潘俭伟的文告中提到“河流深化”的说法显示他对有关河流的情况至今不甚了了，正确的行动应该是定期清除从上流流下郁积于千百家村一带河道的泥沙以避免大雨时流水不及而导致河水倒灌。
除此，水利灌溉局在每州每县都有分局，而国会议员也每月受邀出席县署会议，加上他身为国会议员每季出席国会，因此他有许多机会与管道向水利灌溉局甚至是天然资源与环境部发映，但他却没有，反而要周美芬代劳，不如把他的每月津贴交给周美芬，他就做他的文告议员就好了。
庄赐昭说，周美芬在任内成功向中央政府申请一千两百万令吉完成从白沙罗至千百家村一带河道的提升工程，重建及加高千百家村桥面的事实与功绩无可置疑，同时她每月出席县署会议跟进卡由阿拉河道发展的事实也有记录，问题出在新的代议士上任后对有关课题疏忽，责任无可推卸。

（八打灵再也15日讯）周美芬服务队队长庄赐昭呼吁身为八打灵再也北区国会议员的潘俭伟负起担任人民代议士的责任，关心选区居民的生活福祉，而非在发生问题后把责任推给已不在位的周美芬为他承担责任。
他针对潘俭伟发表文告要求周美芬出示证据证明每季度完成深化河流的证据感觉啼笑皆非。他说，潘俭伟身为该区国会议员本应检讨疏忽，承担责任，从此关注有关课题，以免水灾再次发生，但现在他反而企图混淆是非要周美芬为他承担责任，让人极度失望。
他说，从潘俭伟的文告中提到“河流深化”的说法显示他对有关河流的情况至今不甚了了，正确的行动应该是定期清除从上流流下郁积于千百家村一带河道的泥沙以避免大雨时流水不及而导致河水倒灌。
除此，水利灌溉局在每州每县都有分局，而国会议员也每月受邀出席县署会议，加上他身为国会议员每季出席国会，因此他有许多机会与管道向水利灌溉局甚至是天然资源与环境部发映，但他却没有，反而要周美芬代劳，不如把他的每月津贴交给周美芬，他就做他的文告议员就好了。
庄赐昭说，周美芬在任内成功向中央政府申请一千两百万令吉完成从白沙罗至千百家村一带河道的提升工程，重建及加高千百家村桥面的事实与功绩无可置疑，同时她每月出席县署会议跟进卡由阿拉河道发展的事实也有记录，问题出在新的代议士上任后对有关课题疏忽，责任无可推卸。

谢谢大家的支持，让我即将在17/10/08的当天上任为马华全国妇女组主席，诚如我向来对大家说的：“胜利是承担的开始！”，在目前这个时代把妇女组扛起来绝对不是容易的事，党的期望很高，姐妹的期许不低，当然，人民的要求更高！
有些人说我的竞选政纲没有什么特别，但了解内情的人都会认同我所拟定的方向正是马华妇女组目前所最欠缺也最需要加强与开创的！同时它也是妇女组走向未来必须作出的改变与革新！
从决定竞选的那一天开始，我的脑海里就一直的惦念着马华妇女组未来的路与未来的方向！是时候让我们突破旧思维，开创新方向，树立新形象，让大家看到新希望了！
YB魏家祥以马青举办许多活动获得女青年参加但由于不隶属马青所以白白流失了许多女青年党员作为要还原马青原貌的理由，要让40岁以下的马华女性党员同时成为妇女组与马青团员，引起了许多女同志的非议，也让许多现有的女青年感觉不是味道！我个人觉得要招收更多年轻人入党的目标是绝对正确的，但方法很多， 妇女组和马青不应该是各行其是的，不应该是互别苗头竞争的，我们应该是各司其职之余，互相扶持，相得益彰的！我们可以共同成立一个专责处理青年男女入党的计划与工作委员会，为两个组织开启合作的空间，也建立同志间亲爱精诚，团结共进的精神。
提升妇女地位这条路不好走，但我们已决定义无反顾的把它扛起来，未来，我们将以理性，不亢不卑的方式和母体和马青及各方合作，该坚持的我们不会退缩，我们希望大家不要太早下评断，希望大家不要以传统的刻板印象为我们定型，给我们机会让我们证明我们能！

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong and Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun became the new MCA Youth and Wanita MCA chiefs after they won the positions uncontested.
Incumbents Datuk Liow Tiong Lai and Datuk Dr Ng Yen Yen did not seek re-election as they are vying for a vice-president post in the parent body.
Dr Wee and Chew were lifted onto the shoulders of their supporters after party election steering committee chairman Tan Sri Wong See Wah announced they had won the posts uncontested.Dr Wee thanked the Youth members for giving him the confidence and support to lead the wing for the next three years. “It is very rare to see a no-contest for the wing’s top post. I will take my new role with a huge responsibility to serve the party and the people,” he said. Dr Wee promised to work harder to fulfil his commitment, which is to speak up and make changes without fear.
Chew said the movement would emphasise on national issues, including the economy and education, and change the public’s perception that it only focuses on women’s problems.
“I must thank the central delegates for supporting me and I will try my best to deliver what I have promised in my manifesto and work with the party leadership,” she said.
Newly-elected Wanita deputy chief Datuk Yu Chok Tow, who also won uncontested, said she would work with Chew and the new leadership to further develop the movement. “We have always enjoyed a good working relationship and we will continue to work together to unify the movement,” she said.
The four vice-chairman posts in the movement went to Datuk Lee Pit Chern, Tan Ah Eng, Tan Cheng Liang and Datuk Lim Bee Kau. The Youth wing’s deputy chief post will be a contest between Perak Youth chief Dr Mah Hang Soon and Kapar division chief Datuk Soong Kee Chai.
Soong, who had challenged Liow for the Youth chief post in the 2005 party election, said he decided to contest at the last minute to bring reform to the wing. “Most of the people in the wing are ‘yes men’. For me, the wing should not be controlled by people other than the wing’s members,” he said. When asked why he did not go for the chief’s post, Soong, 55, said Dr Wee was capable of leading the wing but he felt he was more capable than Dr Mah. Dr Mah said he respected Soong’s decision as every delegate was eligible to contest. “I believe the delegates have the wisdom to choose the right candidate for the post,” he said.

“Let us go beyond our traditions and set ourselves free from the current predicament by adopting a new thinking, new perspective and new direction to become leaders for the people.
“We will also be political workers for the people so as to project a new image and create a new hope for the people,” she said at the launch of her manifestos at Wisma MCA yesterday.
Chew, who is deputy Wanita chief, said she had outlined seven plans to achieve her target.
“We will build teams comprising talents in the respective fields and devote more time in the deliberation and study of government policies and legislation,” she said.
Chew said the wing should continue to carry out more effective community projects and activities for women to empower and help them integrate with their community.

CHEW MEI FUN: Pakatan Rakyat’s promise to protect religious freedoms merely a ploy
Wanita MCA Selangor chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun today condemned the Pakatan Rakyat-led Selangor state government’s action in demolishing the Sri Mahakaliaman Hindu temple which had contradicted their earlier promise to the Indian community. “It appears that Pakatan Rakyat’s promise of religious freedoms and protection of houses of worship before the March 8 General Elections was merely a ploy to fish for votes. Such a stunt belittles the voters’ trust and support in them.”
“The Indian voters supported the Pakatan Rakyat during the General Elections because they did not expect such treatment to befall them. It is unfortunate that the Selangor state government’s behavior of demolishing temples continues to happen.”
Mei Fun said on 10 September 2008, the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council without prior notice had demolished the 50-year-old Sri Mahakaliaman temple was disrespectful. “Such an act of disrespect against Hindu believers has hurt the feelings of local Hindu residents.”
“The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council enforcement officers demolished the temple without attempting to relocate the temple to another suitable place. They also heavy-handedly demolished the temple which is a sacred place of worship for Hindu believers. They did not take into consideration of the feelings of Hindu believers.”
According to a report, Ampang Jaya has ten Hindu temples which face the same fate of being demolished. Mei Fun hopes YB Ronnie Liu who is responsible for local council matters will look seriously into the matter whereby action will be taken against local council enforcement officers who forcibly demolished temples.
“Residents in Selangor especially the Indian community would want the Selangor government to quickly respond to Hindu temple demolition and explain to the public and take necessary action against those responsible for this act to resolve the unhappiness among the affected Hindu believers.”
Mei Fun also urged Pakatan Rakyat-led Selangor government to be sincere when dealing with multi-religious issues. She added, “they should practise what they preach and not to clown around with people’s trust and support placed in them.”
