KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita MCA has raised a total of RM99,000 through fund-raising events to help victims of natural disasters in the Pacific Rim.

Wanita chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun said the donations had been channelled to the affected countries which include Indonesia, the Philippines and India via the Emergency Respon-se Disaster Relief Fund of World Vision Malaysia, Mercy Malaysia and The Charity Home of China Press.

“I really hope this effort will be able to help the victims to reduce their distress and to rebuild their shattered communities and infrastructure,” Chew said at the donation handing over ceremony at Wisma MCA here.

The donations were raised through charity sales carnival at the Central Market and charity premier screening of the movie 2012 at Cineplex Damansara early last month.

MCA crisis relief squad and MCA HQ Staff Sports Club also contributed to the donations drive.
