MCA launches Lifelong Learning Centre in PJ
By OH ING YEEN
ENRICH your life by learning an extra skill such as mental arithmetic or take up a new hobby like singing.
All these are made possible at the MCA SS25 Lifelong Learning Centre in Petaling Jaya.
The courses are organised in conjunction with the Lifelong Learning campaign launched by MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting.
“We want to promote the spirit of life-long learning and bring it to the community,” said Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun during the soft launch of the centre.
Lifelong learning: Chew announcing the courses available during the soft launch of the SS25 MCA Lifelong Learning Centre.
“As we are a non-profit organisation, the course fees are cheaper,” she said.
Among the courses offered are Mandarin, Bahasa Malaysia, mental arithmetic, personal grooming, yoga, cooking, basic Japanese conversation, singing and choir, handicraft, graphic design, and motivation workshops. There is also a High EQ Parents Training course.
“In PJU where many residents are English-speaking, there’s a demand for Mandarin lessons.
“This is just a start, we will increase the courses according to demand,” she said.
The vegetarian cooking class by celebrity chef Agnes Chang will be held at the Chempaka Buddhist Lodge instead of the centre due to space constraint.
According to Chew, there are ample parking bays near the centre, which is located in a light industry area.
She added that while SS25 residents were encouraged to join the courses, those from other places were also welcomed.
Classes will begin after 10 students have registered. Classes such as Chinese Knots, Basic Computer and English Conversation are in the pipeline.
